Technically it did reach $2200 on Gemini due to a fat finger mistake by a dumb buyer. The twins decided to stopp trading, then rolled back all the trades afterwards.

It managed $9700 on Campbx and I don't think it was rolled back either. All we need for untold riches is chronically thin order books and zero desire to sell, ever.

It reached $1.3 million or so at the end of July 2011...it was one of Gox's many hackings/blunders. Mark blamed it on someone starting their DB before he was ready lol

edit: found the old link

and yes some of us had orders sell at that price, but it was rolled back
Nice to see a post from an unknown old schooler here. Wink

I think in 5 years bitcoin will worth ~10000 usd.
In 2016 will be a halving, then the value of a Bitcoin will increase.
I trust in Bitcoin.

10,000 is just to high to think now, it is 2,122% from now if we can calculate, lets see how much will be after the halving but i expect a small increase.

Not this year and the next, but I wouldn't say never. It would require significant more investments and therefore confidence from -among else- large organisations, but it seems we're slowly heading into the right direction. The current price only has to muliply less than 5x to cross the $2000 barrier, seems almost a 'trivial' goal if one considers the value of BTC exploded from ~$14 to ~$1100 in 2013.

I strongly believe within this year bitcoin price will reach beyond $2000 price levels. Because once bitcoin enters into previous high levels, then the growth of bitcoin prices will be in exponential. Just because of panic buy.
So, $2000 price most likely to be happened within this year.

I am not against what you tell. I am against your being sure that this cannot should happen never. The only sure thing that can be told about bitcoin is that with it can happen everything. From it can be waited everything. Exactly and only this. Because no one or very few believed on it when was born and he has arrived at a value of 1200 us dollar one. Now we see a full year of stability and a stable increase of value as a trend the last 2 months. And to not forget that its a value which is 450 time stronger than the most strong international currency (practically currency of all the world) and in the same time the currency of the most powerful country of the world. For more, all this being free and without any kind of protection (which can take care of it) or ownership. To conclude with the most rarity possible regarding this kind of being named currency or money: without having any kind of warranty as currency. All this can be defined as much more than dreadfully amazing.

Funny, but we're not even there yet and you're talking about "again"
Let's get there first before we can talk about again

Again? hahaha funny we didn't even reach at 2000 dollars.
Maybe this year we reach it and this thread would be right that maybe we will never reach 2000 dollar again.

Indeed to early to speculate about the possible future of Bitcoin value but I like how it's increasing over time, step by step in the last few months and if the growth continues , even a little by little then I don't think it would be impossible to each that value although a lot of factors should continue to go in Bitcoins favor for that to happen.

I'm not sure what "Again" means here because It never happened before so how the hell it's going to happen again if it never did.
Anyway , Bitcoin will reach even 10k $ and that's for sure and why not 1 million like the user above stated . It's simply how it works and Satoshi made the halving block reward for a good reason (so bitcoin don't lose the value) .
We do realize that It may take some time and we need more users and adoption till that happens , but we will get there .. eventually.

They should have left things alone so we could say Bitcoin's ATH is now $2200. That would have got Gemini more free publicity each time we mentioned it.

Yea, good question. I think it is possible in the early 2020s when inflation really drops.

Does anyone think there'll come a point when threads of this nature die off? I can see why people would've felt gloom in 2011 and 2014. I assume there may well come a time where it's clear that it's too established to bother speculating about imminent death any more. I wonder what that point might look like.
