Personally I think btc does not have any competition with any of the coins available in the market. This is the fact that 1000's coin come and go which does not have nay value today. But still BTC has the highest market cap and prices are also reasonably place during the year.
I just wanted to get your opinions on this one , what do you think Bitcoin would be if there was no Alternative coins such Litecoin & Dogecoin and the others ...

Why would Bitcoin have no value at all when there are no altcoins around when in fact altcoins are the one who needs support from Bitcoin,Bitcoin can stand alone even if there are no altcoins around ,the fact is these altcoins around are only clone,if bitcoin is a close source we will never had a single altcoin running.
I agree bitcoin is not dependent on altcoin market. So even without altcoin bitcoin will survive. And besides bitcoin does not have only altcoin as its trading pair, actually bitcoin is also paired with other currencies like USD, Euro, Peso, etc.
Bitcoin will survive without altcoins, but fact is that altcoin market contribute a lot to bitcoin. There is many traders who use altcoins to make profit.
Good thing is that bitcoin is paired with other fiat currencies, in case of altcoin market collapse altcoin traders will move to trade btc with fiat.
Bitcoin without any alternative coins would be also bitcoin, it will not change, and without any alternative coins will just make bitcoin to shine brighter and because all of the attentions would just be on bitcoin since there are no alternative coins. But I think it would be boring if bitcoin would just be the only cryptocurrency in the internet, just my opinion.
In such way we can avoid scam coins and the only one that is in existence is the legitimate coin which is bitcoin. We can move forward faster if there's no competition although bitcoin is more dominant but it will make the supporters of altcoins to transfer their entire fund with bitcoin which will help improve the economy.Legitimate in what manner? Last time I checked bitcoin is still claimed as an unregulated currency by the government. There's no papers or anything issued for the bitcoin network. Even altcoins are like this. The only difference is the fact that there's a "dev" or an owner of an altcoin whose lack of updates will lead for the drastic decrease in the price of the coin.
Actually, altcoin helped bitcoins grow and bitcoins help altcoin grow. There are some here who wouldn't be here if they didn't read an ICO post somewhere.
Maybe he is not really referring to legitimate as legal but as the real deal. There are two sides of the picture bitcoin without altcoin and bitcoin with altcoin. Bitcoin without altcoin is great since users will only focus on bitcoin and its price on the market will probably always surging up without a trace of it going down, but without altcoins means that if bitcoin shuts down it will be the end of cryptocurrency. The presence of altcoin though somehow affects the price of bitcoin but it gives our investment a multiple and diverse portfolio to choose from that so if one is gone there are many others to replace it.
Just imagine if all the colors that we see are one color such as black or white, of course we can't tell the difference anymore between a food or garbage. Surely it was not interesting, if bitcoin without altcoin just one color only.

What you are going to differentiate by having more number of crypto currencies ?But in my opinion too, having more crypto currencies definitely will be giving a common man some benefits like trading them and testing one new altcoins with some new concepts etc.
I think what he meant was if there was only bitcoins, we wouldn't appreciate it that much because we have nothing to compare it with. For example, if you only experience good things in life and no bad thing at all, you would think of all those good things as a 'normal' thing and not appreciate it at all. It's basically like the saying that goes "It takes sadness to know happiness." and all those ironic stuff.

of course, if there is a altcoin then we can get the price changes bitcoin. there will be a sales margin between altcoin and bitcoin. then if no altcoin then bitcoin could not develop into a major currency.
I couldn't agree more with you dude, between bitcoin and alternative coin is related each other. When the bitcoin price goes down the price of alternative coin is increase and the other way if bitcoin's price is up the price of alternative coin is goes down. It why bitcoin need a relation with alternative coin.
And quite sure it make bitcoin see big rather than alternative coin.
In my opinion there is no way for bitcoin to exist, and that altcoins will not exist, as soon as people see a business opportunity they will try to seize it, so even if Litecoin or Dogecoin did not exist it then will have some other coins in their place.

I think bitcoin can stand without alltcoin, this would be interesting because bitcoin will always be compared to official currency like USD, Euro, Yen and other.
I will look at it in both ways because ALTS as well have in no small way contributed to the popularity of Bitcoin because some people would have been found their way into Bitcoin as a result of their involvement in one ALT or the other.
Another way to look at it is the way it has also helped in the reduction of pressure on Bitcoin because without that, I am sure the regulation into the Bitcoin world would have come earlier than what we are still seeing now.
On the other hand, majority of this ALTs have failed to provide the necessary competition as expected and this has make their effectiveness not reckoned with...
All altcoins are traded against bitcoin, thats isnt something new at all, altcoins are currently the fast way to achieve a bigger ammount of bitcoins, some altcoins bringed some things goods to crypto currencie. Sure bitcoin could survice without altcoins, with that it could be worthing more as well, but diversify is something investors does always looking for, soo altcoins and bitcoin does provide an amazing enviroment for investors.
I just wondering why people keep talking about what will happen if bitcoin with altcoinThe question is just like what will happen if you born without a parents without a mother?
Bitcoin is just like mother of cryptocurrency without bitcoin altcoin will never grow but without altcoin , bitcoin can standalone
and also altcoin is part of bitcoin business that wide openly.
I think it's better if a lot better because our bitcoin or those more familiar with bitcoin through altcoin alternatives. and the impact bitcoin price is getting up
Bitcoin survived before without Altcoins too, but I feel like the altcoins are just giving it even more advantage because we so can see that there were many exit scams around, and Bitcoin had always been on the first place when it comes to everything: popularity, price and other factors that matter. Because altcoins are being traded, it somehow gives Bitcoin a boost.
