BitCoin is a great start as a thought of a new currency, and it's the most widely accepted and used digital currency to date, but that doesn't mean it is the best for everything.

BitCoin is extremely slow, taking 15 minutes for a transaction to confirm. There's other problems as well, but this is about alt coins.

Altcoins, at least some of them are actually very useful, some of them don't relate themselves as a currency as all and they utilize the blockchain.

I think those people that bash altcoins here don't understand crypto too well. There's room for many markets, and it's not all about BitCoin anymore. I think altcoins are good because they bring in people who use bitcoin to exchange for altcoins. That's gotta be good for business, especially for the exchanges.

Altcoins could be faster than bitcoin, they could also provide extra layers for security. Whatever the thought, you can create it on the blockchain.

Altcoins are an essential part of the Crypto ecosystem. But altcoins that exist today can't have any challenge for BTC. Bitcoin is the king of Crypto.

Essential role in Crypto currencies is all depends on bitcoin only. I don't where is essential role for altcoins. Could you please explain that.

Yeah I want to hear that too. This altcoins are just copies whichever side you look at it. It is here for creators to make profit of. The others who have successfully gained the trust of many are just here because they are gaining more.
But give those just one big problem and it will all break down.
Let us just leave alts to the definition to where we could make more money.

Bitcoin don't need those altcoins because it was making its own way to succeed independently. Many people are joining the world of bitcoin because they want to have a lot of bitcoin. Altcoins are always dependent to Bitcoin and it can succeed without the bitcoin. Bitcoin is the source for everything.

I don't know how would be the bitcoin market without altcoins, but I know that investing in altcoins can be a big disappointment.
always choose the best investment and try to understand what kind of innovation they are planning to implement ,disappointment comes when you invest in scams but there are many genuine business out there you can look into

It's a risky too, we can see altcoins that don't reach the ICO goal and well, a lot of alts after a pump goes to the ground and never grow again, it's a risky, you have to sell it at the right moment and never bet on only one...

Bitcoin doesn't need altcoins because it was making its way by its own.Altcoins are dependent on Bitcoin which has been seen over and over again on every rise in price of Bitcoin.Bitcoin will always rule the digital/crytpocurrencies no matter how advanced they will be in tech but still will remain under Bitcoin

Be sure that without altcoins the bitcoin couldnt be such sucess, people joining crypto world and investing huge ammounts of bitcoins into others currencies, expecting to get more bitcoins in the process, or get rich, something that only bitcoin allowed in the past, nowadays we can get and make a good result investing into altcoin.

The disappointment you might face in altcoin investment depends on your own plans and thinking... because if you don't do any research or reading before investing you would surely face disappointment and specially in altcoin markets where scams are always roaming around....
To be on topic, i would say that altcoins are actually a good thing for traders because they can use them for earning more bitcoins with the time... otherwise i don't think there is any need of them for bitcoin...

Essentially there was no altcoin there was only bitcoin but over the course of time since the price of bitcoin got higher and its mining become harder and require a lot of hardware the altcoins came to be to make those who are unable to mine bitcoin to mine other coins and then convert it into bitcoin.

Yes I think so, but bitcoin without altcoin can make trader dissapointed. the Trader need to sell their bitcoin and buy altcoin then they sell their altcoin and buy bitcoin again to get profit and gain their bitcoin. So although bitcoin doesn't need bitcoin but the bitcoin trader is still always need altcoin. This is their investment. Si it will be good if altcoin is still exist to grow our bitcoin in trading. How do you think about it friend?

I somehow dont agree with you, it is true bitcoin still rule the crypto currency world, but that doesnt mean it can stay like this forever who knows one day it will be replace by other alt coins, despite that a lot of alt coin seems useless but i think its one of the element that keep cryto currencies world interesting, alt coin has help bitcoin a lot because a lot of people doing trading bitcoin with alt coin
I do agree that most altcoins doesn't even have a goal or anything, they are just there and there's ton of them. Without the concept of bitcoin, altcoin wouldn't be there. Altcoin is just a copy of bitcoin. Never have I seen an original idea being replaced by its very own replica (copy). The fact that bitcoin is the original and have been there the longest is enough for us to know that it will be the main cryptocurrency in the following years.

I think the only way that bitcoin will be replaced by an altcoin is when there's an unsolvable problem or a problem that takes a lot of time to get resolved in the bitcoin network. The second best crypto-currency will then take over but the name "crypto-currency" will be damaged as well because of the bitcoin take down.

i also think so that the other alt coins have no such a bad effect on bitcoin, and bitcoin ca purview without alt coin, as bitcoin is still the number one crypto currency and there is no need of aly alt coin to give support to bitcoin.

I guess it's easy to predict IMO, bitcoin is the one that would easily survive even without altcoins, it has all the attention and publicity and new user adoption, Altcoin trading is an interesting thing for BTC users but I guess the majority will still use BTC without altcoins, I doubt it would be the other way around though since altcoins are completely dependent on BTC.

i think he is mostly talking about the current existing altcoins, and i agree with this part only that the altcoins that exist today are highly unlikely to be any challenge for bitcoin. some of them come close in some aspects like XMR but in the end they can't take the market.
