Thank you guys!  Grin
It worked fine  Smiley So you can do this with BTG bitcoin gold also?

So should i stick to my new seed on the Electrum wallet or can i move back my btc to the old seed?

Your old seed should not be used for Bitcoin anymore, you have new one and you use old for claim BitcoinCash. That old seed is only good for claim other Bitcoin related fork coins(at time you have Bitcoin in old wallet), and you can use it to claim BitcoinGold.

There is beta version of BitcoinGold Electrum wallet what would be the easiest way to claim this coin, but it is still in beta version and it is not recommended to use it on mainnet. However you can try it from this link : BitcoinGoldElectrum

It is the same thing like BitcoinCash claim, just use your old seed and wait for wallet to sync.

Why cant i use the seed that i received long time ago when i made my Electrum wallet for the first time?

the problem is not about what you can or can not do. you can do whatever you like, all these steps here are to increase the security and eliminate any kind of risk.
if you use same seed in Electrum and Electron_cash then you have two attack surfaces. if you create a new bitcoin address with your Electrum seed and send funds to it, the same key already exists in your Electron_cash wallet and if there was a vulnerability in it then you will lose your bitcoin or vice versa.

HI!
So i make a new address on my Electrum wallet. And the just use the seed i get in Electrum and then use it in ElectronCash wallet?
Why cant i use the seed that i received long time ago when i made my Electrum wallet for the first time?
You can... what Lucius was suggesting is that you create a new seed with new addresses in Electrum and move all your BTC from your old seed (and old addresses) to a new address on the new seed.

Then you simply import the OLD seed into Electron Cash and you can get your BCH without worrying, as all the BTC has already been moved... so your BTC is safe, even if ElectronCash is compromised and you put your OLD seed into it... you only stand to lose your BCH (and BTG and other Bitcoin Forks)

To make sure you don't do anything stupid...

1. Don't do this when you've been drinking! Tongue
2. Get Electron Cash from official site: https://electroncash.org/#download
3. Take the time to verify the download using digital signatures (preferred) and/or file checksum/hashes (not as safe) as outlined here: https://github.com/fyookball/keys-n-hashes
4. Don't rush

You can. Just make sure you are not downloading a fake wallet and you will be fine.

First use this tool[1] to see if you have any BCH in your address. If you do, you can spend them by downloading Electron Cash[2] (which is a Electrum fork for BCH) and opening your Electrum wallet with it. The interface is pretty much the same.

If OP say that he have some BTC in Electrum in the time of the fork then step 1 is not required. What's more important before any attempt of claim BCH is to move BTC from Electrum wallet to a new wallet/address and then use that seed in ElectronCash wallet.

I know you posted link to ElectronCash, but would not be the first time that user still download fake BCH wallet and loss BTC&BCH in this process. When it comes to cryptocurrency every mistake is costly paid.

You are wrong in so many ways...

Electrum team has zero power in your wallet. They don't own your private keys/seed.

If you want your shitcoin(bcash) just download the Electron Cash.

Someone please help as obviously it has been quite some time and I've also posted similar questions about this twice in the past and haven't gotten anywhere.  Do I simply need to get a lawyer and sue Electrum?
Wut? Sue them for what? Bitcoin Cash is an altcoin and has nothing to do with Bitcoin or Electrum.

I had bitcoin stored in my electrum wallet during the fork back in August 2017 and still haven't been credited with the equal emount of Bitcoin Cash that users were promised from the fork.  How do I go about getting my equivalent amount of Bitcoin Cash?  Who do I have to email or talk to?  Who can help me or will help me with this?
