OP, do you mind sharing more information about your node setup? Does debug.log file mention anything that could be used to identify the problem?

Same with bandwidth, blocks are only a couple of megs but if you are on a slow connection with another PC on the network streaming netflix & youtube....

But as long as the node run 24/7 and doesn't disable block-only mode, you'll get compact block (mostly contain block header and short txid) instead which have far smaller size.

How powerful is the machine you are running it on? Could it be that it's taking a REALLY long time to process blocks and until there is a long amount of time between blocks it just can't keep up?

The clock being off should not matter, unless it's REALLY off. I have seen some odd behavior when that happens.

As the title says; My Bitcoind hardly ever downloads the blockchain completely, I'm always 1 or 2 blocks behind.
How can you tell?
Here's mine: blockheight.txt. Updated every 4 seconds (until I remove the file).

Was the height indicated in the latest "UpdateTip" lower than the other nodes/BlockExplorers?

It's most likely because the block height and blocks themselves are sent separately from each peer, so a node might receive the height first and the RPC's or GUI's realtime calculation says it's missing a single block, hence not a 100% verified chain.

Hi,

As the title says; My Bitcoind hardly ever downloads the blockchain completely, I'm always 1 or 2 blocks behind.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Thanks in advance!  Smiley
