I was checking out the service announcements sub-forum and came across this thread  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-bitcoinelectronicsnet-phoneswatchestabletsminersbtcltcdoge-995695
which is currently locked by the owner. He usually bumps the thread every 24 hours, and locks it. I feel he is avoiding an escrow for any kind of trading while doing so and has locked it to avoid any posts by consumers or people who want to use an escrow to go ahead for a trade. Should threads like these be allowed to be locked to avoid any posts on the thread ? I feel a self-moderated thread would be better suited than locking the thread.

Why someone should be obliged to 'don't lock his thread'? If someone want to use the escrow and that user (seller) does not agree  .... in that case I will not suggest the 'possible buyer' to continue the deal.

However I do not think it is against the forum rules 'lock the own thread'.
I know its not against the forum rules, what I meant was that bitcoin ecosystem is prone to a lot of scams and one way someone can be extra careful while trading or buying something is through the use of an escrow. Allowing them to lock or delete posts will make people prone to falling for a scam , so I was just wondering if some kind of rule can be enforced to not have all these business or selling related threads be locked. There is actually no reason to have the thread to be locked except for the fact to refuse an escrow when someone posts about it. And since the thread is not self-moderated, I really don't see the use of locking the thread except for it being a potential scam.
