If wall street traders started putting money into bitcoin then it would be a massive step forward in terms of adoption. This alone would flood millions into the market and take it into a new light where more people would see the potential.

Going mainstream means that the majority of the people is liking it or making use of it I do not know of this is ever going to happen with Bitcoin. There are just so many people that do not like to use there money on the internet.

They do not like to use their money online due to the deficiencies the previous payments options had. You had security problems with services being hacked where credit card information were stored and it was prohibitively expensive, with all the fees added in the chain. Bitcoin also, do not have charge backs.

Bitcoin is changing this with cheaper fees and increased security. < If you use no 3rd party services > Once people realize this, mainstream adoption will be a reality. ^smile^

I personally expect 40% price increase just before or after halving. This will bring lots of media attention to the industry and people re gonna stark getting more interested and flocking in. In case the price manages to stay at this new level, the mainstream option will be much closer.

Bitcoin is gaining popularity. Introduced into public use, example is the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan and African countries (as an alternative to Fiat). Yet not all people are familiar with cryptocurrency and are not ready to accept.
I think there should be many years must regrowth level of technological development and knowledge. I agree with the previous commentators, and also think that it will take 20 years.

I would also say that it will probably go mainstream in 10-20 years. I will give it that long or else it just might fade away when something else new comes out.

10-20 years is a good time frame to gauge where BTC is headed. Would that time be enough for mass adoption? What would the changes be in terms of its acceptability and technology be like in that span of time. There will be uncertainties along the way, and several other alt coins surviving with BTC, but if positive changes towards awareness and usability are enforced, things could be looking great in the future.

I think it all depends on the regulation, if you're running a business, you wouldn't want to start accepting a currency which is illegal or in grey area for you don't want any trouble with the law later. So for bitcoin to go mainstream it will first have to get accepted and get recognized by countries around the world as a currency and that will take time.

I found this video and I thought I should share it with you guys and give me your thoughts about it  : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBQWRuRe-9E (comments talking about altcoin , just ignore them).

I think we are waiting for usability to improve or something like openbazaar to become so popular people just have to have bitcoin to use it.

One side, there should be more and more ppl who begin to accept bitcoin.
In addition, the BTC company like anx should develop into a more mature form, establishing credibility and attracting more attentions

I do agree with the speaker and he seems to know what his talking about. I also think it's going to take around 10-20 years before there be any significant changes to the status of BTCitcoin in regards for to go mainstream since were still on it's initial phase and most don't know much about it nor use it. I also like how he explains separately that BTCitcoin and blockchain has importance and each could do good when used as a single unit or together. In about 20 years, BTCitcoin would be the center of online world and hopefully PayPal is far gone by then (although this is my speculation and hope).

There are people who hesitate to use bitcoin as it has got only the digital form is a true statement, also there are users who are much interested on it. Bitcoin goes mainstream when it get a certain percentage of users.

Why would you want bitcoin to become mainstream. Is mainstream is just being a popular currency, then it's ok. But if you want to buy regular groceries using bitcoin, then please take a step back.

Bitcoin is not meant to become a regular currency. It is an alternative investment route which will help you save money without worrying about global economy and provides a great amount of anonymity.

Bitcoin has very great potential to go to the mainstream but it would take some more time to get majority of people into community, there is no doubt price will be skyrocket after block halving and more high price mean more attention, more demand so that it can be helpful to get more bigger merchant to accept bitcoin as payment method.
