The bitcoin community has chased a lot of big ideas, but this has to be one of the biggest! Well done Jeff for thinking big. Anything is possible - this can happen! This will definitely boost the "intrinsic value" of bitcoins for everyone by bringing the blockchain to every square meter of the Earth's surface! Keep thinking big!

This is awesome! Jeff Garzik is a great person to organize this. I may donate a significant sum (well, significant to me at least) to this project.

It was so ironic that the consumer savings guy on Keiser Report Google hangout just now made the comment "the early [Bitcoin] adopters probably can afford their own satellite infrastructure now!". And he had no idea that Jeff Garzik announced an initiative to do exactly that only a few days ago.
