DigiPigLet wasn't created with LN, rather with on chain BTC which was another interesting approach. In DigiPigLet, the fund raised it used to donate at Venezuelan Charity Organization.

It's not a physical torch. It's just a payment passing game using lightening network. The article says,

hopefully it can be a good promotion and can increase the value of bitcoin, I hope this event can make many people more interested in bitcoin, it's like a relay sports game, only this time in digital form, good luck for that community.

The torch is a digital game first ignited in January 2019 by pseudonymous bitcoin enthusiast Hodlonaut, known for his Twitter avatar of a cat in a spacesuit. Each "torchbearer" sends a tiny amount of bitcoin to the next. A key rule is to add a little bit more money to the payment each time it moves to someone new.
The goal is to highlight the speed and global nature of the lightning network, a payment technology that could solve or at least greatly ease some of bitcoin's most critical problems.
