1) make some limited where are founded  and another not founded.
2) Silver looks better Smiley

3) Engraving for whoever wants it.

I forgot more than you will ever know.
I am just discovering this and theymos' thread.

I love the idea, however I am not fond of the graphics at all. I'd be way happier with something more classic, or maybe with a hat on it? Cheesy

@yogg, where you aware of this?! also check this out mate : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalkorg-collectible-coin-5111005

I love this motto and whole thread:
Quote
I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen.
Why not use something like this? It's also made by an Anonymous Guest on 2011 Wink !

My suggestions:
1) Funded
2) Silver (or a mixture of several metals)
3) Engraving for whoever wants it (but much better a limited edition without it)

In a world of peaches, don't ask for apple sauce
Not to shit on the design, but beyond the small fine print on the back of the coin, how is this related to Bitcointalk specifically? The core image from the design was used for a Reddit ad and the last thing I'd want to be reminded of when I buy a BCT commemorative coin is Reddit or the the echochamber circlejerk that is /r/bitcoin (guys, I like Bitcoin as well but I don't feel the need to downvote every single post that criticises it, points out flaws or posts bad news).

While Reddit has it's positives, it's negatives and the fact that it's not Bitcointalk really does make this design feel off.

The pics in the OP look fantastic. If theymos was to give the OP the go ahead I think the idea was for theymos to select around 100 established accounts & pay for them to be done with forum funds before behind distributed.

I just wonder who theymos would select as supposed deserved recipients of the commemorative coins?

Why just 100 accounts? That sounds a lot like DT1 only coin. I don't know If that's what theymos wants. There are many DT2 members who would want one.

The design is super good. I want one.

Make it silver with some gold plating.

At first I thought this topic was about digital coins/tokens concerning Bitcointalk. I was ready to lose my shit and talk trash to OP. Well done to the designs though.

Welcome to the SaltySpitoon, how Tough are ya?
Keep in mind that premiums on physical crypto are literally insane, and only willing to be paid by a small group of fanatical collectors. It takes a lot of effort to fund/hologram/customize each coin with understandably drives up the cost of production. I could be wrong, but If you want it to be a Bitcointalk coin that just general users buy, you are going to have to keep costs low enough that people outside of the collectibles market don't laugh themselves into a coma. If its going to be a small limited batch for the collectibles section folk, I suppose go ahead with any plans to denominate/fund/hologram/customize with names.

Just something to consider

Love the design/image
No etching/engraving...
No hologram or DIY....
No keys/addresses...

This needs to be a token that every person on the forum can afford and want. Cheesy
Damn there seems to be a bunch of posts about this, but why so hard to have small spot for holo on the back.

Sure... have a hologram..

Who's assembling thousands of these coins?

What if each user that wanted one stakes an address and pay from it to theymos, after enough has been raised to make it cheap enough then we could look further, like it might take a while but it will be worth it.

I remember the movie of The Hobbit on the design of the coin, and its really cool.
Its ok if its not funded, made of silver, and have an option of engraving or no engraving.
I would love to order in the future, so I will watch this thread until we have a final thread of this.

The design looks great, but have you contacted drawing author for permission to use his intellectual property?

I see you offer an option to fund it btc. When money got involved, wont this redditor ask for a "peace of a pie" ?

Please, take some time to read the rest of the thread as the issues has already been discussed before, for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7jj0oa/im_donating_5057_btc_to_charitable_causes/dr6syg7/?context=3

The creator does not want any type of retribution for it.

I really like the design, I'm already wondering how the wizard would look on an actual coin.
Anyway here's what I think:

Not funded, to keep the price down
Preferably silver
No engraving, again to keep the price down.

This would be great if theymos had put a green light or somehow named you officially as the maker and distributor of collectible token because if not you are just selling and distributing an unofficial token of BCT. Maybe the next step for you is to talk to theymos personally so that you can officially affiliate the token to BCT. Also when looking at the medium article you provided the image of the Wizard King is created by South Park Digital Studios and my concern is have you asked their permission to use the image freely and with consent? Because we all know that the BCT community is strongly against plagiarism and that also includes copyright of images, we don't really want our community being associated with a stolen image for our official token.

Thanks for your comment!

I have PM'd theymos, hopefully he will reply with what he thinks.

Regarding the image, I think you got confused. South Park drawers were inspired by the original Bitcoin Wizard, not the other way around. So there are no possible claims, moreover the drawing "owner" does not accept donations nor retributions from it.

1BTC Welcome Bonus
I have little suggestion on design. You may create the logo similar to the bitcoin with axe kind hitting on it with the bitcointalk text flying around there. I mean it closely need to show similarity with mining kind of axe and bitcoin.

Coin can be Silver or Brass

Engraved likely great.

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
I like the design it is more of simplicity, what I suggest is if the side are not just in circles but something in text related to bitcoin or the forum. And one more, replace the bitcointalk text and replace it with Bitcoin Forum instead.

First Exclusion Ever
Love it. I would like to petition the wizard be replaced with a clown wearing an East German Stazi officer's hat though given the overall trend of the forum over the past 10 years. I think that would be more appropriate.

Hello!

I am Crypto Imperator, maker of physical crypto coins.

I am posting here, as some time ago theymos opened the following thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalkorg-collectible-coin-5111005
asking forum users about the possibility to create a custom coin for the forum 10th anniversary.

One user posted an idea I loved (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51139449), using the famous reddit drawing of "Bitcoin, Magical Internet Money" : https://medium.com/@paulbars/magic-internet-money-how-a-reddit-ad-made-bitcoin-hit-1000-and-inspired-south-parks-art-b414ec7a5598

So I designed this:

And posted a thread in the collectibles section asking for feedback: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalk-coin-5148409

Following the advice, as this is a creation potentially all forum users may want/like it should be jointly discussed by the whole forum. (Pending theymos opinion)

My original idea, was to make something similar to my other releases, a funded silver coin (that means it has a private key under an hologram) and to etch each buyers username at the back. But as some have pointed out, maybe a "token" coin is more suited for the occasion.

If you have some time please post what you think about:

1) Funded (0.001BTC or so) / Not funded, in the second case the design for the back will be completely different (Ideas welcome)

2) Silver / Other metal

3) Engraving for whoever wants it / No engraving at all

Hope we can create something special for the forum!

Funded or fundable/DIY.
silver ofc.
no opinion, perhaps depends on pricing.

I hope this works out well, I hope you get enough feedback, and eventually even do everything altogheter.
