hello,
I got an email from bitcointalk saying that my account got attacked and the follow information may have been leaked.

Quote
The following information about your account was likely leaked:
 - Email address
 - Password hash
 - Last-used IP address and registration IP address
 - Secret question and a basic (not brute-force-resistant) hash of your
 secret answer
 - Various settings

Anyone else got this email?
Or is this email some kind of a scam?
The email says it's a PGP signed message.

thanks
greg

Although the security mode of bitcoin is very high but does not mean that your account is not stolen. We should regularly check the security of the account. Email, facebook, compromised invader we can get back information but bitcoin was invaded, the money he lost was not obtained.

As I said above I can't do anything because I dont have administrative powers to reset your account details. You'll just have to wait for a response from an admin.

Hello,

My Bitcointalk account Hacked , is there any way to recovered this account ?
is there any customer service of bitcointalk talk ?

Thanks

Has it been hacked or locked due to security reasons? If it's hacked and you need to reset the pass then follow the instructions here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/recovering-hacked-accounts-or-accounts-with-lost-passwords-497545

If it's been locked I can unlock it providing you can prove it's yours by signing an address associated with it.

That's good to know.

Then, I wonder, what is the main threat from the hack of BitcoinTalk Forum, given the type of information obtained?

My immediate question was if someone had an IP address, would it make it easier to hack into a wallet that was stored on the computer at that IP?

I know, I know cold storage is the only way to secure bitcoin. But, does having the IP make it easier to find and hack a wallet there?

no it does not affect it in any way. they cant tell it is "your wallet" meaning their is no way they can tell the amount and it does not make it any easier.

Hi there. I just got that same email as well. I was looking for an official post here about what happened, but could not find one. I am pretty sure the email is legit, there doesn't appear to be any phishing URLs or anything suspect in the body.

Edit: Nevermind, looks confirmed legit. Smiley

The following information about your account was likely leaked:
 - Email address
 - Password hash
 - Last-used IP address and registration IP address
 - Secret question and a basic (not brute-force-resistant) hash of your
 secret answer

Anyone else got this email?

Your account was not hacked, although there is a chance that it may get hacked in the future if you don't change your password, which I would highly suggest doing so
