favicon on the top browser is a logo isn't it?
A favicon is a shortcut icon, not a logo.

It would however give Bitcoin more recognition if ever the forum gets their own logo.
The exact opposite would be the case. Bitcoin would receive less recoginition if the forum used it's own 'un-related' logo.
It should'nt of course be unrelated to bitcoin. It should definitely be bitcoin logo that incorporates forum also

The new forum will do away with this default look from simple machines and hopefully have a more distinct look all of its self.

I like bitcointalk.org just the way it is, it loads fast and is easy to navigate. One can still keep chatting even when the data is low and that is a great plus.

They are still running the very default theme of SMF along with an out-dated version of SMF.
This is due to security reasons. A new forum has been in development for some time now.

I feel that the real problem is designing it.
It isn't really necessary. The best approach is to just keep it as some sort of Bitcoin logo.

By putting an image on every page you visit, there is more to load and will drastically slow down the forum load time. To this date, the forum can be loaded within a few seconds even when you have a very slow Internet connection. (Edge(E) cconnection on mobiles).
But if the logo is also plain text or bbcode, it won't make much difference.

Let's see if the new forum software features a logo Wink
And how about user's avatars? They are problem too? Because almost everyone here is having avatar and I don't see any problem with that.
Forum's logo shouldn't be much larger than an avatar in the first place. From technical point of view having logo at top of the site is a not hindrance at all.
I feel that the real problem is designing it.

Bitcointalk is probably the only forums on the internet which is this popular without any logo... Roll Eyes They are still running the very default theme of SMF along with an out-dated version of SMF.

if bitcointalk does have logo, i'm sure the logo will the same as bitcoin itself and probably being added a "community" text, but i don't think putting logo will really make the page load a ton because an image can be highly compressed

So far, I don't think using the Bitcoin logo isn't really off unless Nakamoto was not informed (which is highly unlikely). It would however give Bitcoin more recognition if ever the forum gets their own logo.

Just wondering why there is no logo for bitcointalk.org while many forums or website I visit usually have some kind of logo on top of evey page. Not that it makes any difference but it looks quite unusual to me
At the moment it has the favicon on the top of the tab on your browser, i don't think a logo is a must to be shown on every page.

By putting an image on every page you visit, there is more to load and will drastically slow down the forum load time.
Once it is loaded then it is stored on the cache of the browser and it loads automatically locally most of the time.

Wrong. Loading an image of a few kilobytes isn't going to slow down anything drastically. The forum isn't run on outdated hardware.

Let's see if the new forum software features a logo Wink
The beta uses only a standard Bitcoin logo at the moment.
