I personally believed that we should not filter any type of information that actually happened here but i guess as long as it fits with the categories on the wikipedia information panels.

Yes i agree merit and trust system plays a very important role in your community

More importantly, if someone is into bitcoin for a while they wouldn't reach the Wikipedia or similar encyclopedia websites for information. Bitcoin wiki along with the developer documentation is one of the most accurate and regularly updated things in the bitcoin world for information. We need to note that, even bitcoin wiki website doesn't give out much info on the bitcointalk forum with just limited info on sirius, satoshi and history. If we are concerned on updating the info about the forum, first we need to give a brief insight about the forum on the bitcoin wiki website itself before reaching the Wikipedia website.

Probably, a wiki page of any matter is not just an overview of events taking place and they consist of everything happening over time. The Wikipedia page of even the bitcoin network doesn't contain much information. I guess few months back, a user wrote a detailed info on bitcointalk by having a chat with some early members and gathering necessary details.

Somebody should at least summarized that context first I think since xtraelv was the person who created that one it is  not going to be hard for him. Then probably the best person to confirm that is Theymos.

Should we have to add the negative things about this forum as well? lol

Let's hope the Lauda debate and a few other things get ignored in transition too...

The trust system here is quite an interesting one to document and merit.

The bitcointalk wikipedia page looks quite empty https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcointalk? Should stuff be added and if not then is there a point in that page being there?

Yes, the page is mostly visited by many people everyday who want to know about what the Bitcointalk Forum is and people usually end up checking the info on Wikipedia. For now the page is very less detailed for sure, without any operating info as we already know much more could be add to it. The most attractive content there looks like the scam section where a university research about the scam attempts is listed which is like an dark side. I think we should add more useful and attracting info there which explains the working and moto of the forum in better way.

Basically Wikipedia is bit of an open source and you could most probably edit the info there. I tried working on it many times and its basically simpler to work upon. If an article has less info and you contribute to it, your text is sure to appear on the info page.

So, yes we surely need to add some additional data to the current Bitcointalk discription on Wikipedia.

Edit: We could get most of the info about the Bitcointalk history in this thread by xtraelv which we could add to the Bitcointalk history discription there :

It was brought up a while ago and I'll bring it up again.

Surely there's quite a bit of history here that could go on there. We had Satoshi for a while and other people like hal finney and Andrea's schildbach who existed quite early on (just to name a few).

We have threads here dedicated to the history we could move some of the information on those across.
