A set of web crawlers i wrote. Nothing special (someone asked if i have a backdoor in the Bitcointalk.org database server... Well, no, but it would be handy Smiley)

If by last post of the thread you mean the first unread message (there is an extensive db side read tracking system), you should click the blue icon left of the thread title. You might need to be logged in for this function to work.

You can also find a "Go to First Unread" link inside the thread navigation. Unread posts are also marked as "New":

Btw, it looks like that the images proxy server @ Bitcointalk.org is currently down. You can check the thread on Bitcointa.lk to see them (we have an images proxy server as well there Wink)

I just poked about bitcointa.lk and it's pretty fast and very slick.  Very impressive. I'll be watching..

I would be happy to gift a license along with my help if an official switch were to happen. Non commercial forum boards are mostly bogus, lacking features, and non maintained. Almost nothing can compete with the features and code quality of this board (that btw was created by Kier Darby, ex lead developer of vBulletin).

So the answer is simply "Why Not?" Wink

Libertas a calumnia
Awesome work, cedivad, hat off!

But why using a commercial software?
This would render more difficult a possible (official) switch to this new board, I suppose.

I took the advice from cedivad and "replaced "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum."

And was floored.

This is what a forum experience is supposed to be like?! I feel a fool. Why the hell is it not this way over here? Easier on the eyes, rss, more statistical information presented at top level...

I feel like the younger sibling that got a sucker when the older sibling got a bowl of ice cream. With cherries.  Grin

Good work man, this is useful and you have provided value to the community. Post me a donation address when you get a chance please.

the software does indeed look nice but my biggest gripe is that you ripped off the name of this forum with just a . added

How is that a problem? After all it is a newer veraion of bitcointalk!

How should have i called it? Bitcointalk-2014.org?

I don't feel like to have done anything wrong. It's the Bitcointalk community, on a nice domain, platform and server. It's what the bitcoin community deserves, but was unable to get due to (the lack of) administration.

We are not talking about a private for profit forum here. It's one of the major, if not the major, community center of the Bitcoin community.

Personal text my ass....
I'm using the new software now, and I feel like I'm back at 2014 instead of 2005. What a difference in just navigating and reading. I can read twice as much within the same time it took me on the "old" site by utilizing the features and options here. Very good job and I really hope this stays up. The operators at bitcointalk should at least consider this temporarily and pay you for your work so far. By all means, they have enough money. Millions.

I dont really see what the point is because we can simply just come and post here...

Interesting idea anyways.

Don't see the point? You want to keep using several years old SMF version with a lack a features you could barely now call this software a bulletin board to begin with. New forum software has nice features, color, a much better user experience then you'll get here.

Can you say... nighty-night?
This is the most awesome thing I've seen for a while. Just being able to read deleted posts is priceless. Sad, i can't find a donation address. Thank you for your hard work. Keep it up! Hope you don't mind if I put a link into my signature Wink

As of now someone would have to register on Bitcointa.lk to remove (from public view only) their posts.
Now registered users can see posts that were removed with this method.

However this has to be implemented in a better way by synching moderation activities from Bitcointalk.org, the goal would be to leave everyone able to see removed/edited posts, comparing the history, etc.

I like this. it will be a backup of Bitcointalk. Great way to see what self moderated threads have deleted.
Thanks for your effort!

+1 Nice idea!

cedivad, I'd like to highly recommend you to disable the feature of deleting posts

This way, bitcointa.lk is a truly interesting achieve which will enable anyone to gain insight into what was removed from self moderated threads etc. without the owners being able to delete it over at bitcointa.lk.
