I had to add the line

109.201.133.65 bitcointalk.org

to my /etc/hosts file to access this website ?

Is something wrong with the DNS entries ?

The domain has been transferred.  It hadn't expired so it looks like someone has hijacked it (whoever transferred it paid for another year so it now expires in 2022 - it was already paid up until 2021).

According to who.is, it was transferred to:

Name: Martti Malmi
    Organization: Malmi Web Tech
    Address 1: PL 116
    City: Helsinki
    State: Uusimaa
    Zip: 00101
    Country: FI
    Phone: +358.458581880
    Email: [email protected]

Hmm, that email address is for my University.

ps I'm a tecchie  Grin , and I almost didn't figure out what to do.

I can guarantee 99% of people won't figure it out..

How is bitcointalk going to fix this ?

 Huh

Smiley I had to google for the old IP address, amazing indeed
Just got the ip from reddit.  Thanks.
P.S. Never would have logged in if security of this account was in any way critical -- https broken, browser warning pages, etc.  Not sure if mentioning that (on Reddit) would help.
P.P.S.  Changing security settings for HOSTS file walkthrough is probably worth mentioning for win/hosts users -- without editing HOSTS, none of the internal links here work. Undecided
Oh, and thanks maxmint.

That person is a core bitcoin developer.  So I don't think this was a malicious theft.
