Thank you everyone for your response, I really thought that site was legit as it looks professional to me. They are still quite active on twitter that made me think haven't still done something bad.

By the way I don't have a PC, just a laptop but it needs to be fixed. Right now I am using an android mobile device, is there any safe and legit way to generate a vanity bitcoin address on a mobile device specifically on android os? If there is , please post here. I've seen some on google but I'm afraid to try it out. It would be great to see veteran forum members recommend some such services.

Thanks!
IIRC, I used this before and it worked quite well if you have a slightly high end android and don't use too many custom characters.

Being active on social media doesn't mean anything, at least that's the case for sites in the investors based games section.

I wouldn't trust any site that doesn't use split key generation as it doesn't provide the security for the user. Without it, the site would have full knowledge of your private key and they would be able to spend it at their own will. Split key generation allows users to merge the keys together hence the site will not know your full private key.

Thanks for the reference sir! I would definitely try the link you've provided cuz I know you won't share that if its not legit Grin Your words will be reliable cuz you are a reputable member Wink

Thanks also for those who shown proofs that the site ain't really reliable and will just scam people. I guess I have to lock this thread now cuz I saw enough feedbacks from the site. Should I?

There are many scam accusation about this website.
Also the user that spread this website has negative feedback too.
This basically works they generate the address for you and send you the private key.
Then if you send money to this address they can steal your bitcoins easily.

I have never tried this type of service. Actually it sounds strange to embed our name in bitcoin address. Completly confusing concept for me.

Only one thing I gotta say, never use online vanity generator, they have your private keys so they can steal your coins whenever they like better use a offline vanity generator software so you are the one in control of your address

That is true for the site in OP, but there are also users/sites (one example is https://vanitypool.appspot.com/) out there generating split-key vanity address for some fee. In that case, the counterparty would not know your private key. And yup running the vanitygen yourself is a good option.

Split key generation allows users to merge the keys together hence the site will not know your full private key.

Another option is to get a free VPS. There are several VPS providers that give out free trials... vanitygen is pretty easy to build and run (it took me 10 minutes on the latest ubuntu), so if you have a 24h trial, you'd be able to generate tons of vanity addresses, as long as the regex isn't to long...
It would depend on the processing power of the VPS. Trial VPSes usually have weak CPUs and thus are inefficient. Also, they aren't too secure. They may be traps setups by hackers and they would be able to get your private key anyway. It is worth noting that most providers don't allow you to run applications at 100% CPU usage for long periods of time.

So recently I just found out this site https://bitcoinvanitygen.com/ that generates a vanity bitcoin address. I was attracted with the idea of having a bitcoin address with your name on it, which for me is cool Cool But have some hesitations trying the site cuz I haven't heard a feedback from here yet. Do you think this one is reliable?
Yes this site is 100% reliable.I have personally generated address for myself with this site.
You just have to fill the first 6 characters and submit it with your email and you will recieve a email when your address is generated. In that email you have to click the link and it will take you to your private key and address.
Please note that, that page will only be shown once so make sure to copy and import your private key in your wallet to use that address Cheesy

It is not legit. They will probably wait until you get some higher amount on the address. They have a private key for every address you generate using their site.

I tried this site before for fun only but I have never import the private keys to my wallet because I guessed they store the privatekeys so they have access to the address and the can steal it whenever they want

That really bothers me , they also know the private keys of the generated address that's why I made this thread to ask some advice and look for vouches (if there is) of the service. I guess I'll try that one ( the offline vanity generator), I'll start reseaching on that.

Still, I'm looking for more opinions and also you can share your experiences from the mentioned site.

You should use https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen yourself. It's much more secure and not that long unless you have a potato computer.

Keep in mind that the only thing that you need to control coins is the private key, which is something this site has access to.

However, I'm almost certain there's a secure way for someone else to generate a vanity address. Since I'm curious to see how it works, if you want we could look into it and I can generate you an address up to 1XXXXXX.
