there is a company, as with any "start up" you spend more to promote it at the start but once you have the traction and you dont have to spend that money thru referrals you move on to something else... and what they are doing is recruiting representatives for countries to drive bitconnect further.

They have a good sustainable business model.. thats all they need. They are driving the value of BCC and thats how they can pay everyone the interest.

Sad for crypto newbies who got lured into this without knowledge but I guess the people who invested in bitconnect well knowing that it's a ponzy scheme deserves it.
