Are we Canadian safe with Bitfinex? Can we continue to trade, or they are closing for Canadian as well? can anyone help me with it, thanks
They haven't mentioned Canada anywhere in their blog post or whatever you want to call it.
Here is a link on what they have said :- https://www.bitfinex.com/posts/216
The post also mentions about the fact that it was effective from August 11 2017, I don't know if it has been implemented or not ,as I don't use it.
So Canadians you don't have to worry much, there is a vast difference between Canada and the US. But is bitfinex really worth the time, there are better exchanges than that.

I think they specifically said US citizens only. So the old neighbor Canada is not affected. But who knows? maybe your country will be next. However, if Canada has no laws yet effective bitcoin trading (buying/selling) then you don't need to worry at all. Its that the US has very strict laws that's why Bitfinex has no recourse but to discontinue their support to US citizens for now. So I must say that you are very safe as of the moment.

So anyone knows if we Canadian are allowed to trade on Bitfinex or not?

Of course you can. Bitfinex has put out an official statement saying that they are not going to provide services to anyone residing in the USA. They have not put out a statement saying the same for residents of Canada.

How do they plan on blocking American residents specifically? Is it through IP address analysis or just the manual prompt that anyone can falsify to get past like ICOs have done.

This one is a little bit harder to answer as obviously Bitfinex is not going to tell us how they will enforce this. Others have expressed the opinion that they will only enforce it on verified US customers as they have records to reference. Also, anyone could be using a VPN so if they went the IP address route they could end up barring non-US customers by mistake.

I'm not affected by this as I'm not in the US, but I think if I was I'd probably withdraw everything as I wouldn't want to take the risk of getting my account frozen.

They're blocking U.S costumer,canada should be part of us,right ?
it would be better for you to stop trade it on bitfiniex at the moment until everything is resolved by them.
do not do any trade right now because it's too risky, who knows what can they do to your account ?
because it's one of their opportunity to 'hostage' your coin with a reason and holding it for sometime.
even though they will allow canadian to trade in their exchanger.
be safe than sorry brother.
trading is a risky action and do not it make even worst by doing a trade in that kind of exchanger at the moment
