Hello,

I just woke up and got an email that someone logged into my Bitfinex account. My balance went down to near zero and i was shocked. I saw no withdraws but I freezed the account immediately.
I checked everything and saw, that someone hacked my account and sold all my cryptos for BTC, then the BTCs were traded from BTC to ZIL back and forwards a lot of time. They were sold low and then bought back high with my account until my balance war near zero.

I wrote to Bitfinex but I don't have an answer until now. What should I do now? Do I have any chance of getting my Coins/Cash back?

Thanks a lot!
That's why you must always strengthen your account with 2FA.
I use Google Authy and that makes me safe because my hardware is on a smartphone.

Wow this sounds strange. How did the hacker gain full access into your account?. Can this be possible if you are using a strong password with your password and you enable Google 2FA authentication? Or maybe your email account was hacked and used to reset your password.

From your post it is obvious that the hacker is a very smart person he not only logged into your account but prevented any paper trail by trading your tokens for a ridiculously high price the obvious mistake as to be on your side because I think your exchange account was not secure enough aside from this you should never have left your tokens on an exchange that said I doubt if there's anything bittrex can do about it because there is no proof or paper due to suggest your account was hacked and it wasn't just an error while trading from you.

Too bad to listen that. You simply need to be more cautious in this matter. Whatever you're , doing you shouldn’t put your mystery word or significantly private things exchanged in a drive or online based framework. Since it persistently joins a chance of getting hacked. And you as well got to utilize antivirus or gather basic data on online security. Government too ought to take steps to anticipate such movement.

You should be more careful in this matter. Whatever you do, you shouldn’t place your password or highly private things uploaded in a drive or online based system. Because it always has a chance of getting hacked. And you also should use antivirus or gather basic knowledge on online security.

Actually I think your account has been hacked. Not bitfinex. And no one can help you with that other than bitfinex itself. You can send them message for solving the issue.

I think it seems not bitfinex but you are hacked, it is easy to be hacked if you don't take necessary measures, you have no chance of getting those coins back.

This would happen sooner or later. Now it is necessary to protect yourself even more carefully from hacking. And the most terrible thing is that hackers are constantly finding new ways of hacking  Sad

Well, you might be one of many people who got hacked by the hackers. Bitfinex is a good exchanges, you just missed to secure your account. Sad thing is, there is no way to get back the money you loss. That's a total loss now so better to move on. Next time try to protect your account or even your wallet well so you will not be hacked again. Learn no to clink any links, and don't download anything.

Did you have your 2 factor authentication set up before the hacking incident happened? I don't think so. Otherwise you would have gotten a notification earlier that someone is trying to hack your address. Right now, you can only wait for Bitfinex to respond to your query and hope that the fault is from their side, otherwise, I don't think you are getting your coins back so easily.

It might be the case that your security of the account was not that high. And it will also be better if you contact the support department of Bitfinex to seek help regarding this.

The chance of getting your coin back is slim, if your token has been changed from coin to fiat that will be difficult to get back if it is on exchange the account cant still be freeze.

there is no withdraw but a trade happens in your account. I think the real intention of the hacker is to withdraw your balance but it seems that he cannot, so he just choose to consume it since he cant transfer it to his account.

This is a horrible event, do not despair, contact the customer service, I'm sure they will be able to help you, it's very bad that the exchange did not provide protection for clients from fraudulent actions, well, it's in my account binance is some amount of money, negligible, now with regard to the situation in the market, and from whom it can and bitcoin lie and 10, and this is a lot of money. I am sure that these losses will be taken into account in the near future, and in some way compensated. Rape, We are with you!

I think your security or password was weak and so it has happened. You should use 2FD system and strong password for the security. Moreover you should try to contact with the team and if it is for their fault then they will compensate otherwise you will have to bear the loss.

Nope, as others have already said, bitfinex won't help you with this. This was due to the customer's carelessness and bitfinx is at no fault.

They offer 2fa services, you should have used it to secure your funds!
As a measure, stop using same email & password combination everywhere and make sure that your system is free of malware too.

Now it is important to find out who is the guilty? If it is happened due to your carelessness or lack of awareness then there is nothing to do and you will be the solely responsible for that. If the guilt is found on the p[art of the system then you can hope for the damages from the team.

This is a warning for all of us, and not only for one exchanger but all exchangers, if we have an account, we should use the 2FA facility. It's trivial, but sometimes we often forget about it, I hope it won't happen again to you in the future

I think you should change the title of your thread to "My Bitfinex account was hacked" as you are misrepresenting what has actually happened. As many others have suggested your account security is your personal responsibility everyone with an exchange that offers 2FA should be using that to safeguard access. If you do have that in place already then maybe somebody you live with has access to your equipment?

Your only hope is if Bitfinex rules that the hack was their fault and not yours from maintaining poor security on your account. You should never keep your cryptocurrency on a centralised exchange. Keep it in your wallet or on a decentralised exchange where you maintain control. Not only do you risk your money being hacked on a centralised exchange but you also leave yourself open to risk if the centralised exchange becomes insolvent and it also means your coins can be lent out to people who want to short your coin.

I was surprised to read the title that you gave because what I thought was Bitfinex hacked so it would be very chaotic market conditions quickly, but after reading the contents of the title turns out that your account was hit by Hack, I'm sad to hear you experience this. Just a suggestion if you can still access the account, then quickly send the remaining tokens to your wallet for a while, but if you can't access it, you have to give up with a heavy heart. Exchange account should be secured using the second step to enter your account, do you not activate the system? so that other people can use your account?

My heart nearly break down when I saw this headline, Bitfinex is not hacked, but was your account was hacked, I have an account with bitfinex and I have login to my account and my coins are still there, I believe someone managed to take advantage of your account and hack it, try and contact the support team, also check to see if you have clicked on any click or did something that might exposed your account?

You immediately change the account password, then use Authenticator for further security. You see if the results of the exchange have been transferred to another account, if your coin has not been transferred, then WD immediately. If it has been transferred to another wallet, I think the admin cannot return your coin. Because the blockchain system is fully controlled by the user.

last time I used bitfinex when I sold odem, I didn't find anything bad there. I think bitfinex is the best exchanger and has good service. You have to give a ticket and everything will be fine.
this may be your failure to secure your account.

Awful! It reminds us that it's better to hold your money in different places and not to trust your money to exchanges no matter how protected they are. I wish you strong nerves and that the exchange will solve your problem!  Cry Cry

OMG! Keep us in the loop - personal experience is very useful! I don't know how to help in this situation(( I wanted to register in the exchange but I'd blacklist it now! Hopefully, you'll get your money back, and if you aren't to blame for the hack, you'll receive compensation!

Wait. No one can help you other than Bitfinex support.

It sounds like the security on your account was poor, with no 2FA and an easily hacked password. The best thing to do while waiting for Bitfinex to respond is to protect all your other online accounts (all exchange accounts, online wallets, email, etc) by changing their passwords to something more secure and setting up 2FA.

how can they do it I just heard a problem like this
usually every market is provided with defenses such as authentictar for your account security, and also usually for your lost balance will not be changed from the exchange team but just try it you ask who knows from the bitfinex team there is a solution to your problem
