I called them for this issue, they say they accept non-Korean members but there is a problem with the SMS system.
I asked further but the person said I couldn't make an account now and wait for the problem to be fixed, BS if you ask me.

Why is it BS? Are you in tantrum mode again? They told you there is a problem with their SMS system and to wait for the problem to be fixed. What is wrong or abnormal about a Korean (or any other) exchange having such issues? If you live in a perfect world, then there is a lot to learn and catch up with outside that world you live in.

The exchange is in Korea and therefore caters primarily to users in that jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere and hope to use this exchange's services, they are not obliged to offer that service and if they do, it wouldn't be "BS" if there are issues here and there. It could be a very real SMS systems issue. It could also be a precautionary or preemptive issue as a result of recent hacking problems affecting Korean exchanges.

No need to throw a tantrum over a system glitch. Wait for them to fix it or look for alternatives.

Sounds a bit strange, given the updates two weeks ago from the South Korean government. If the news of the documents leaked by media first bore any truth (and subsequently confirmed in government press conferences), South Korean exchanges won't be allowed any longer to register foreign clients. Bithumb is almost certainly going to be one of the first to acknowledge this, so doesn't sound credible that they still accept non-Korean members unless they'll actually be allowed to keep existing ones as soon as the regulations come into force?

If that's going to be the case, they must be busy recruiting before the gate shuts. SMS system down? Not likely, would have seen an update about that first.


They might do what OKcoin did and register another exchange of the same name abroad for foreigners. Perhaps bithumb.eu for foreigners and bithumb.com for Koreans.

I am trying to register for the Bithumb exchange.
Having a dropdown menu where you can choose country, I will assume they accept non-Korean citizens - correct me if I am wrong.
I chose my (EU) country but I'm having trouble getting the sms verification code sent to a non-Korean phone number (even though my name + address popped up when entering my phone number. I looked for customer support but didn't find an email and their ticket system demands that you log in first. Does anyone have a support email address or is there a representative present in this forum perhaps
