Hi all,
I am writing this to warn you all of what I think is a phishing scam targeted at Bitstamp Users, and also in response to the following thread, where the OP (Demarcsac) requested help:

However, since I just registered today to respond to him/her, as a newbie, I cannot post in that forum.
What happened was.....
I attempted to create an account at "Bitstamp.net" to trade bitcoins. I searched for the url via google but due to a typo, the auto-suggest suggested "Bitistamp.net" instead.
At first I didn't notice, so I clicked the link and was brought to a very convincing looking replica of the genuine site. I created an account with my email and was given a password.
However, the next screen requested my email password login details (see image at http://postimg.org/image/fr76nkfcl/), so I immediately became suspicious. I then noticed the incorrect spelling in the url "Bitistamp.net".

The interesting thing is that my new account was genuine i.e. my username and password worked on both Bitistamp and Bitstamp, but clearly the account was already almost fully compromised by scammers.
They had full access to my new Bitstamp account, but, fortunately, not my associated email account. If they did and I had not noticed, I think that they would have had full control over my funds.
Needless to say, I will not be using this account.
Perhaps this is not exactly what happened to Demarcsac, but I hope this helps you figure out what happened or at least prevents others being scammed.
