So, the community has been questioning about the number of miners released in Batch 1 of Antminer A3 this month. In order to clear some doubts as well as get an opinion on the count , I've tried to put together these analysis. Having a count of miners released + miners at Bitmains mining facility can be estimated using the network Hash Rate graph below.
One thing is certain, Bitmain did not screw its customers this time. They did not mine using customer miners , this is evident from the fact that the network hash rate only skyrocketed after the A3s started getting in the hands of miners. So, for Bitmain haters, I guess this calls for some pondering
May be their new release strategy is working in favor of miners.
For those who missed the initial 15-20K SC run, dont worry, your mining is expected to be standard at around 1K SC a day (approx.) based on the fact that the difficulty is flattening out. Also, Sia Coin being the unique solution that it is, is obviously going to go up in price , so my recommendation is that you hold on to the coins. (NOT a financial advise) I intend to use them for cloud hosting myself.
Now coming to the calc:
https://i.imgur.com/2jHqcC9.pngAs you can see the difference in from the time of release till now is approx 8000 TH/s (8 x 10^6 GH/s)
Assuming at least a 30% A3s are overclocked (I personally dont recommend overclocking, but given the prime time, I did go ahead and overclock mine)
and 70% on normal
we have OC: at 910 GH/s and Normal: at 815 GH/s avg.
So, the calc goes as follows
OC versions: 30% of 8000 TH/s = 2400 TH/s | A3 OC miners count = 2400 / 0.91 =2637 units
Normal versions: 70% of 8000 TH/s = 5600 TH/s | A3 OC miners count = 5600 / 0.815 =6871 units
Total Units for Batch 1 of Antminer A3s =
9509 unitsIf you have any official numbers please share.
