unless you have super cheap electricity or free electricity its impossible to profit from their new prices even if reduced.

Well, you don't really need to buy them to mine. You can always buy them to resell it (more profit this way).

You can ROI at 0.000879/GHS but you will need some cooling device.

Miners are listed at up to 2$/GHS on ebay so 4times more expensive than buying to a mining hardware company or on a cloudmining site and they sell at 0.5-1$/GHS.

ANTMINER C1 Batch 3- Cooling Kits Excluded- 1000GHS are sold at 0.000879/GHS but I don't know and I don't think shipping is included.

It is easier to go on cloudminr and buy 2000GHS at 0.0011/GHS with no maintenance fee

Risk of cloud miners , company going under , you pay in advance right , so u lose when they close before u finish . Buy hardware maintenance is a must , is your house cold ? They make great heaters . A real incentive for those living in cold places.

You are right, you take a risk either way.

A real incentive to mine at home is to have free electricity Tongue

I find that purchasing the miners from Bitmain directly will be more expensive. In my experience buying them a little after launch from a reseller is cheaper. a re-seller buys them in bulk thus lowering his price per unit. if its a good honest re-seller he then passes some of those savings on to you. making your purchase slightly cheaper.

Just be carefull if cheap resellers are collecting orders, but finally don't deliver. Another scamm approach.

Bitcointalk have resellers that are trusted and get discounts but you always add a bit more risk by choosing this route.

Wait for antminer S5, it would deliver a lot of hash in a very compact box (hopefully not too heavy). So the shipment should be cheaper in a way..

Is it really worth it buying new equipment even if the btc price is falling? The electricity cost would even eat your profits.

Some don't pay for electricity or pay a very low price and some can have a BTC ROI in mining. Also the price of BTC may rise.

I agree, that it is overpriced.
I wanted to buy 50 maybe 100 units S3+ and I received offer  278USD/1 unit incl. transport, which is higher than price 2 month ago (!). But difficulty is now aprox. 33% higher.
So for such price it is absolutely non sense and unprofitable.

278USD could be profitable if you can resell those on Ebay after you mine for a few months.

0.68BTC for 441Ghs is 0.001541/Ghs, still too much

I know, I know... you are a business, and you here to make money. Compared to other vendors, you are still better. However, charging $140 USD for shipment of 2 S3 miners + high cost of the miners themselves costs more now than it did months ago. Just had to get this thought out there  Cheesy Cheesy Shocked

They are mining with equipment and won't sell to people that are going to make them loose mining revenue if they are not selling very expensively

WANTED: Active dev to fix & re-write p2pool in C
October 26, 2014, 07:42:47 AM
#30
It's not just their prices anymore, their support has gone down the drain too, as well as their lack of quality control. Their S4 release was a joke, completely untested hardware & firmware resulting in either units going up in smoke or users only able to mine at a few select pools efficiently - so much for the "decentralization" they like to promote. Talking of which, they promised their customers that they would be investing heavily in p2pool months ago, but have gone completely silent since then - and the only miner that works with it out of the box is the S3.
S2 users were promised a firmware update over 9 weeks ago to patch many security flaws, but again, nothing - leaving users vulnerable to having their hash rate redirected, as has been reported. The latest S3 firmware update actually breaks the units & has to be fixed immediately after flashing in order to be able to use it again, plus it's slower & performs worse than the earlier firmware, but Bitmain just leave it on their site anyway. S4 users have been promised a firmware update to fix all the issues also, but again, nothing. I can see the S4 users being tossed into the garbage can in the same way the S2 users were after parting with their cash for their latest & greatest units, waiting for promised updates to fix the various issues for weeks but getting ignored while Bitmain are busy promoting their latest model that probably won't work as advertised again due to zero R&D & no testing of firmware.......
Bitmain have thrown their reputation down the drain, and their threads are now littered with dogie poop. I'll not be buying anything else from them again until they clean up their act, and their threads..... Wink

Off to spondoolies I go.

If you care about profitability, S3 is not the best choice, because all the good will bitmain built up is flushing down the brains. Bitmains rep was an asset that they just chucked out the window. Bitmain is now the best option of very bad options, i doubt you will get an affordable ROI.

No, it was free. Now it's 100 dollars USD. The price of the actual unit has not dropped significantly. The reason they are charging for shipping is to try to force you onto their cloud. When you checkout now you can choose shipped or umisoo, defaulting to umisoo. Don't buy their cloud. Don't centralize this mechanism. Cool

Actually, its because of bitcoin price dropped a lot and they can no longer cover their price with it..
The price tanked months before they started charging for shipping. It coincided with their rollout of cloud based services just some weeks ago. Cool

Soon, shipping is going to cost more then their product. We need to stay next to them to be able to ROI..

I too enjoyed the free shipping, but they still have the best price per GH.

Agree, the free shipping was really good until they change it to pay shipping. Now everything seems to be over priced...

Looks like the prices aren't that bad and some people are buing in bulk.
GAW just announced that they bought over 5 Petahash from them.

Sure but GAW is jacking prices up. Just compare the price per GH of Genesis hashlets vs S3's.

The price that gaw pay is lower cause they are buying bulk..... So you can't compare if you are only buying 1-2 miner..

NO HARDWARE WILL ROI.

That's what people were saying when the first ASICS came out.
This can be quoted along with:
Bitcoin is dead.
Mining is dead.
We will never break $100
We will never break $1000
And many other.

Bitmain has the cheapest available GH at the moment afaik.

The question you are asking is: will newly bought hardware ROI (quickly).

Nobody can answer that question, as nobody knows the price of BTC in the future, aswell as the difficulty, your power costs....

After seeing the B10 price I was sooooo happy I got in on B9 at the last literal second.  It sucks the price of btc is so low and that's why the price is so high for equipment.  But the price of btc is going the right direction so hopefully we will go back to normal here soon.

Lucky you, many people missed the B9 boat Sad

S3 B1 was 0.75BTC each.  On release date, BTC was $620, so each S3 was $465.  Total cost for 2 was $930.

S3 B5 was 0.68BTC each.  On release date, BTC was $585, so each S3 was $397.80.  Total cost for 2 was $795.60.

S3+ B10 is 0.572BTC each.  At $400, that's $228.80 each, so $457.60.  Shipped to my door via UPS adds 0.333BTC or $133.20.  Total cost for 2 is $590.80.

Certainly looks like they've gotten cheaper to me...

Bad comparison. Money was refunded for S3 B1, remember?

Also, B7-B10, price has stayed the same. B9 and B8 were cheaper to buy than B10.
I'll give you the 7% refund for B1 (I forgot about it to be honest) Smiley.

While B7 - B9 price remained the same at 0.58BTC per unit, the value of BTC dropped considerably (down to $280 at one point last week).  Bitmain only tacked on shipping to B10, correct?

Don't get me wrong, I think it sucks that Bitmain suddenly started to charge for shipping, where they previously never did.  However, given that had I actually placed an order for a pair of B10 S3+ when they went on sale, the units would have been 1.16BTC or ~$350.  If you included shipping in that cost, or about $100, Bitmain would have made only $125 per miner.  I'm pretty sure this is the reason they decided to start charging for shipping - to not eat too much of their bottom line.
