I killed one S3 long ago.  Ever since I have not updated unless big feature or security flaw.

It just is not worth the risk in most cases.   So I cant really say they didn't or did work for me... as I am just not using them in most cases.

I have an S5 that will not hash for more than about 2 mins on the newest firmware if at all.  Downgraded back to the release before the last and it works perfectly. Tried the update multiple times.  Same result.

I messed around with firmware for the S1, no problem there.

I updated my couples S5 to Fan control, no problem there.

I messed around with S4 firmware to re-enable firmware, however i ended up installing smit's firmware unto a certain version of old S4 firmware to keep volt control. Since it was not Bitmain's firmware this probably does not count, but considering it was easy to just reflash the SD card when i fucked it up, i'd say not too much problems with the S4 brick wise. Still the fact that it was needed to go through loops if you wanted to keep volt control is pretty dumb in the first place.

It kind of seem like from the S4 Onward they started purposely limiting features related to controlling the miner, however.

Never had a unit bricked, but have been screwed by bitmain twice as they silently removed functionality that was in previous firmware.

1st: They disabled voltage adjustments on S4, but left the field there. Took a while before I realized that voltage was not actually changing to what I set. Can be rectified by flashing older, flawed firmware.

2nd: Removed frequency selection above 200MHz, so no more overclocking. Bitmain refuses to make the overclock enabled firmware available, though they promised me multiple times they'd email me a copy of the firmware that shipped with the S4+ at launch. Liars. Can still be overclocked by editing cgminer.conf via SSH.

I no longer update bitmain firmware unless crucial.

Okay I am trying to gather data on bitmaintech firmware upgrades.

Please give an honest vote. please fell free to tell if you saw improved gear.

I have owned more then 30 k in bitmaintech gear > I never did a firmware upgrade.

My reasoning is that I  read more then one brick story.
I really want people to be able to look at the thread  and get true info.

I do not care if you say terrible shit if the gear died, but if you say the gear died I will want details and some proof the firmware killed your gear.

I also do not care if you say the firmware broke important features.  I will ask you for details .

If you sa y a firmware was great I will also ask for details.

I choose to never do firmware upgrades on bitmaintech gear. I found work arounds instead. But that is me not you.  So vote and post.

I did do a self mod just incase people say bad stuff with out proof. also please do not insult based on it is  Chinese . I have lived in NYC for years my Brother has spent time in mainland  china and in Taiwan he is a dean at a NYC college  so I have meet with and hung out with many of his colleagues  and I don't want to hear the firmware is bad due to greedy Chinese  people.  I will just delete it.

I do want to hear about bad firmware and good firmware updates from bitmaintech.

My feelings are 80% of them were bad , but I want data. Please effort to be honest.
