How much did BitmainWarranty charge?

I'm in the same boat, I'm trying to figure out if I should send the whole S9 back to bitmain (high shipping cost, lost revenue), or to just ship the one faulty board to BitmainWarranty

Bitmain has a California based repair center now...

Are you sure they are active? I called their phone number earlier today (which was posted on Bitmains website / Repair ticket walk-through) and it was out of service.

This is the contact: https://shop.bitmain.com/workOrderGuide.htm#_Prepare_the_shipment.

"2) US Delivery Address (If your miners/hashboards are currently in the US, you can ship them to our US repair site. Otherwise, the packages will be returned to you) Online consultation?

Last time I had a s9 board repaired/replaced by BitmainWarranty a couple months ago it was:
$14 for me to ship it to them via USPS standard-rate box - that included insuring it for $450 if it got lost. Per Bitmain and sending to China, max declared value must be under $40...
Repair/replacement was $149 inc return shipping.

I had a board go out on a S9 a few months ago and went thru bitmainwarranty.. And the whole process was smooth...I submitted a request for repair...They sent back a repair ticket number and address and instructions on where to ship board. They are located in Denver Colorado...USA.. I shipped board...within 2 days after they received it they said it could be repaired....They sent an invoice which is paid thru Amazon...and I had my board back a few days after that. The whole process from start to finish was about 12 days.

Just an update - top marks for bitmainwarranty.com.  I asked the question, and they're making it right by shipping back the proper board.  No fuss at all.

Is bitmainwarranty.com a third party who's business is sanctioned by Bitmain to do repairs for them, or are they part of Bitmain themselves?

I'm also curious how long it took for the whole process of you shipping your broken machine off, and receiving it back in working condition. I read about how people will be shipped miners with a bad chips or control boards, or after a while a board breaks, and they act like it's the end of the world. I'm thinking either they're a new service who hasn't been around long (I don't remember them being around for too long), or they take a very long time to process orders and repair peoples miners, or people wouldn't freak out as if their entire miner caught fire. I'm really curious as to how long the whole process takes for them to receive, fix, and ship out your broken miner. Time is the key with these miners, so I don't imagine I would be too upset if I could get an otherwise broken miner repaired and back hashing again in a week or two. However if it takes over a month to get them repaired by bitmainwarranty, com, a broken miner would seem like the end of the world.

I'm curious about this too. Does Bitmainwarranty.com fall under the Bitmain's warranty? Seems you paid for a new board though. Wasn't this a new antminer from Bitmain or third party?

That would be unfortunate if the warranty only covered having to pay $250 to ship it to China and have them repair it, and not Bitmainwarranty.com who is in the USA.

Depending on how quick Bitmainwarranty.com works - which is what we're curious about - I would certainly save the money and time (time which translates into more money) by sending it to Bitmainwarranty.com.

I think most buyers would just lose money sending it back to China and getting it back.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It wouldn't be worth it to repair under warranty if it meant spending $250 to ship it to China, and having it take over a month to get back to you.

Not going to damage anything. Bitmain has never said what changes they make or why and the boards all seem to work exactly the same.

This 2.4 is as performant as the 3.9; and is compatible with the S9?  I can't find references on the boards anywhere; am reluctant to just 'plug it in' and do damage.

Board 'repairs' are rarely actually repairs done to  - your - board. Typically a board is examined to determined if it can be salvaged/repaired at a later date. If it can, a different board which HAS been repaired is returned to the customer. As long as the exchanged board performs to spec, all is good.

That process is typical for any non-warranty repair of any specialized electronic device that does not have a steady supply of new parts being made. In this case it is the ASIC's that are rare as hens teeth.

Hey guys.

I had a broken board on a brand new 13.5 Antminer S9.  Shipping to China was $265 bucks, so Bitmain recommended I give the people at bitmainwarranty.com a try.

Through their support ticket system, they told me the could repair my board for $175, which I paid.

When the new board got here, I noticed that it wasn't of the same type.  I had sent them a v3.9, and they shipped back a v2.4.  It doesn't look near the same, but I don't know much on the subject.

Help appreciated.
