I think you need to read FAQ before you start to trade in Bitmex. After that, you need to watch a video about trading in Bitmex which is available on Youtube. There are so many good videos you can watch to learn how to place an order, and I think your problem is about setting the right number in the column.

This video is an example for you can learn:

Placing Orders, Setting Stop losses and Targets, Leverage and Margin
Bitmex Stop Loss Tutorial And Fees Explanation

I am sure there is many more good video for you to watch, you can get something from the video. I hope you can solve the problem, so you don't have a problem to trade in Bitmex.

You give the right advice. Topic starter need to start with their implementation. If this does not help to solve the problem, then he can read reviews on various resources. Reviews, necessarily dedicated to this exchange. As examples: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/bitmex.com or https://revain.org/exchanges/bitmex. If the above does not help, then there is nothing left but to change the exchange.

When you use order limit,  just make sure you put the price lower that current price if you want to make long potition,  and should be above current price if you want to make open potition short. Also you should be understanding  the level leverage that you should be use, because the level leverage also acording to balance trading that available.

I don't get it your question because so far, I use bitmex without any problem even if I only use a small amount. The smallest amount I've used was 0.001 to buy a long xrp and it still running until now. So maybe you need to check the price first and decide on what price you want to buy or sell, and then check how much leveraged you want to use. And if everything is right, then I think you don't have any trouble at all.

I keep getting this error when trying to place a limit order..

order has execinst of participate don't initiate

what does this mean??

Do you get this message when you directly use the Bitmex platform, or are you using some other App?

The message you receive is "ParticipateDoNotInitiate" ?
"Also known as a Post-Only order. If this order would have executed on placement, it will cancel instead. "

This is related to Stop Limit. And usually appears when using other apps or charts.

Maybe you have an existing order or you are already out of funds for your new order to make. But you also have to contact the support team of Bitmex to make sure.

Number  of member in Bitmex increasing day by day because many trader like the platform and like to take more risk by use high leverage, and with many new member sign up everyday make the server getting error. To use Bitmex exchange is more complicated for newbies than others crypto exchange because use of leverage. You have to learn first how to trade there by learn it in some of tutorial in the youtube.

Bitmex had a lot going for it until it decided to stop improving the service. The system is always overloaded even with $5 movements.

I don't know about this new platform Digitex my experience is with Bitmex and Deribit( https://www.deribit.com/reg-3404.8501?q=home) I switched to deribit for btc trading and still do small volumes Alt trades on Bitmex

BitMEX is one site i don't understand and don't wish to. I've heard a lot of people complain of how leverage trading has rekt them, so it's not something I want to set myself up for. From what I've learnt it's very addictive such that you don't stop until completely drained in the face of recurrent losses.

Did you try to reach the support? I mean this isn't usual to happen so I'm afraid that no one can help you with.

Really, many still gets attracted in leverage trading despite of the huge losses that you might encounter. And people knowing this gets more curious to try without realizing they putting their selves to bankruptcy. Grin

Hi; did anyone ever answer your question? I get the same thing. When I use the market order, it doesn't happen, but the limit orders are less money. I found Deribit exchange which is simpler IMO and offers a lot more and I've had no problems (very straightforward). I would like to use Bitmex too but it seems kind of shady not being able to set a limit order.
Hope this message finds you well.

Thank you,

I don't use BitMex because of no trading fees so it looks suspicious to me.

Bitmex fees are different from any other Exchanges

they use different type of contracts such Perpetual, traditional Futures, Upside/Downside Profits etc..

inside of it are maker, taker and settlement fees

https://www.bitmex.com/app/fees

Just be cautious in using this exchange

Its addictive and may drain your Fund.. lol Cheesy

It looks like an error that it doesn't exist or the limit you input is not acceptable.

You can read this faq https://www.bitmex.com/app/orderTypeFAQ
