Can anyone tell me how can I tell if I've been effected by this bittrex leak?

With all our info including our passports they can easily pretend to be us

WTF do i do now?

I contacted my phone provider as with our info they can ring up and change our phone number which they gained from bittrex over to another simcard and then bypass all 2 factor for starters including access to our email address if that uses 2 factor code sent to phone.

With our info can't search for other places we use our details.

not to mention now do I have to be worried about someone using my identity for fraud, making bank accounts and doing what they can to use it to their advantage

I don't really want to change my email address for hundreds of sites, I don't want a new phone number but one thing I can't change if they have is my passport info..but I really don't know what to do now

ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED

I replied to your own thread.

As for Bittrex, If they are genuine, they will survive. They handled the whole transition completely wrong. This started with the communication, and has worsened by not properly handling their support tickets. Also, communicating with exit strategies for people who wanted to GTFO should have been done at a much earlier state. They should have rejected payments for accounts that don't allow withdrawal. 0 BTC withdrawal limit, seriously? Even within the US legal framework this is overdoing it if there is no exit strategy.

They made a shitload of errors, but as long as many people aren't effected they can continue... but be warned for when the shit really hits the fan.

Bittrex started to be huge when Ploniex had a problem, the activity increased a lot. It was a good exchange until they decided to change their rules then asking verifications, lack of support and so on. i don't trust it anymore, i don't want to use a site and have no idea what they could do next.
They will surely be here on 2018 but with all complaints about them i have no idea why someone would want to join it.

Do you think Bittrex will survive 2018 ? lots of unexplained activities has been emerging eveyday with this exchange platform that really give me concern about its survival in 2018 .

please what are your own opinions

It's really up to the feds. Tongue

In all seriousness, it's clear that three-letter agencies or state regulators have been crawling up Bittrex's ass for a while. I guess that's what they get for setting up operations in Washington State, of all places, where state regulators are second to none (except maybe New York). They're doing their best to survive, implementing these tightened KYC procedures and blocking accounts from sanctioned countries. Whether it's enough? Who knows. There is no precedent for this stuff.

I'm honestly concerned that they are basically a honeypot at this point. I won't go anywhere near them. I can't wait until the decentralized exchanges take over and put these guys out of business.

I think bittrex will survive in next year and if I check the volume, bittrex is bigger than poloniex. somehow my feeling said that big whales move from poloniex to bittrex but I don't know if it is true or not. besides that, I see bittrex accepting many new coins that poloniex doesn't so I think in the future, bittrex still operate their exchanges.

Only problem I can see is regulation in their future, which is already something which is hurting them right now. You can see that back in the day Bittrex didn't have to go through any sort of AML/KYC regulations, now they're being forced to do it (and complying) due to the amount of money which they have running through their systems. I'm expecting more regulation to hit them soon due to them being #1 in the exchange marketplace.

Bittrex don't trade fiat so where is the AML/KYC required?
Bittrex are not number #1 in the marketplace, they are like #14

I think he was talking about altcoin exchanges. Bittrex was definitely the highest volume altcoin exchange after taking so much of Poloniex's traffic. But now with all the KYC and account locking drama, some of that volume appears to be leaving for Binance, HitBTC and Cryptopia.

The fact that Bittrex voluntarily registered with FINCEN suggests they are a money transmitter already, which subjects them to AML/KYC requirements. Also, they do accept USD wire transfers from customers:

Quote
Bittrex allows for the purchase of USDT in the amount of $100,000 USD or greater via wire transfer. The wire transfer process requires that your Bittrex account is Enhanced Verified, and you provide us all the necessary information on the wire transaction in order to process it.

Wires are processed using $1 for 1 USDT (Tether).

The Tether markets are also a legally murky thing. By definition, they are a derivative instrument, so I'm not sure how that affects things. I'm not convinced that, for legal purposes, they are the same as a POW coin like Bitcoin or Litecoin.

I've heard some negatives about Bittrex because of their required authentication process before withdrawl. Also, it looks like they're accused of several price manipulation cases.

https://steemit.com/scam/@jeanviete/bittrex-is-manipulating-the-sbd-chart-scamming-their-user

And there's a shit ton more if you do a quick google. This doesn't pertain to 95% of traders on Bittrex but it's just something to look out for. As far as if they'll remain in service, I'm sure they will. The company is making so much money from all the fees that the only thing stopping them would be a hack.
