If you're not sure yet if there is something stolen, just keep watching closely for strange things to happen (bank accounts/loans being opened on your name, have a lawyer ready). Keep a journal of your activities on a daily basis, so you have an alibi. Keep doing this as long as it takes for your passport to expire. One thing you could do as well is get a new passport, have the old one destroyed (don't do that yourself, it's your government's property!). This might cost a few bucks, but could be the best line of defence. Again, contact a local privacy support group, they can give you better advise.

Can anyone tell me how can I tell if I've been effected by this bittrex leak?

Unfortunately, you can't tell it before it happens. There will be some speculations but nothing will be concrete. And if it really occurs, we still don't know if all the users documents will be leaked as its also possible that a portion of it might be not.

There's very little news about this currently or even if it's true which i bloody hope its not.

It's my first time seeing the site so I don't know it's credibility but by just reading the article, Their evidence is very circumstantial I don't even know if it can really be considered as an evidence as you can't confirm it and view it. And as far as I know bittrex connection is secured, you can check it by clicking the padlock symbol.

But its indeed a problem on why bitrex didn't give any explanation on how they will store the users documents so I guess we can just hold to the fact that they won't mess it up as it's basically a self destruction to them.

Reporting my passport as stolen
Registering for a credit freeze
Change everything associated to bittrex email address
Change phone number

Yes. This should be fine

Hey Mike thanks for the reply. I'm UK

Nothing has been officially confirmed which makes it even worse to be pro-active if anything has happened.I
There must be thousands of people that submitted their passport photo recently who could be effected.

I'm only a small fry, but with the amount of info Bittrex has on me they know as much about me as I know and including a copy of my passport. I just know my details could be out there but don't want to freeze my credit file as that still reflects badly from what I have read.

They say no news is good news and I'm hoping this is the case.

If new's comes out that it has leaked my info here's what i think il be doing so far:

Reporting my passport as stolen
Registering for a credit freeze
Change everything associated to bittrex email address
Change phone number

all things i don't want to do but will have to for peace of mind Sad

Depending on where you live. File a report at your local police office for identity theft. Get a lawyer, ID theft can get you into serious trouble (if you live in the USA they could maybe help you deal with Bittrex). Maybe get into contact with a local privacy-rights group that can help you, they could give you advice, if a lawyer is not an option.

I replied to a thread but I may not get a reply so I'm making my own topic. Mod please move If in wrong place .

Can anyone tell me how can I tell if I've been effected by this bittrex leak?

With all our info including our passports they can easily pretend to be us

WTF do i do now?

I contacted my phone provider as with our info they can ring up and change our phone number which they gained from bittrex over to another simcard and then bypass all 2 factor for starters including access to our email address if that uses 2 factor code sent to phone.

With our info can't search for other places we use our details.

not to mention now do I have to be worried about someone using my identity for fraud, making bank accounts and doing what they can to use it to their advantage

I don't really want to change my email address for hundreds of sites, I don't want a new phone number but one thing I can't change if they have is my passport info..but I really don't know what to do now

ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED
