Lol. Good luck with this.

Do you know how much work it would take not to mention no one will go to the hassle of researching every time they do a transaction.

It is a good idea, but would never work.

Sounds like a big waste of time effort and bitcoins. It can't be regulated so even if they try it can't succeed. There will always be at least a handful of nodes that aren't taken over by governments so then what? The blockchain will continue on as normal.

If this is to make taxation harder why not just be more safe with your bitcoins and how you use them?

Is it even technically possible to blacklist a bitcoin address? If I don't want to receive any BTC from address dslkfjskdfjlk32jlk35w3k, can I prevent it from happening?

A blacklist is interesting for something like the ransomware attack. 99.9% of bitcoin users would be agreeable to a blacklist from that address.

It would be a huge mess, if you don't have 100% of miners and nodes agreeing to blacklist some address, it would cause a chain split. And this will happen with every new address added to blacklist. And if someone hasn't updated their list fast enough, they will also get kicked into alternative chain. Miners will have some of their blocks orphaned for the same reason. Users on minority chains will be extremely vulnerable to double-spending attacks. It's simply not worth it, so no one will ever try this thing.

I think if you blacklist one address, they can create new addresses, as everyone one of us can ! So we could blacklist those wallets and addreses, but they could just change the wallet and create new addresses, so they would still continue in the bitcoin market !

Good luck with the transaction fees!

I believe that it is in the interest of all bitcoin users to keep bitcoin free from government influence.
I propose to add a blacklist of all addresses that are associated with government, so that no one can send bitcoin to or retrieve them from the blacklisted addresses. The bitcoin miners and clients should refuse to validate transactions containing a blacklisted address.
That will make bitcoin taxation harder if not impossible, and will make it cost prohibitive to seize and thus regulate bitcoin.
Every bitcoin client should be free to make a custom blacklist or download one from the internet.

How will you do it, I am bit curious do you have some software kind of thing and will that be applicable world wide, then it seems nice but then where Bitcoin is regulated by government how will your system work. I am not sure how you will really be able to implement this, it will take some major technology and why would you invest so much?

It isn't a good idea at all. The community cannot for certain, determine which addresses belongs to the government. Bitcoin taxation is only incurred when it is declared and is paid in fiat. It isn't beneficial for Bitcoin to reject regulations. Regulations can help Bitcoin instead of harming it.

Miners are probably the most important factor here. If the miners were to implement such a rule, their farms would probably all be shut down.

Why does people hate regulations so much? I think it is becauss of tax but guys come on, it is our duty to pay taxes for the growth of our respective countries. Regulations are important to bring order and counter money launderings and frauds so that we can put those people behind the bars and not to freely do it. Try to research how Japan's government and Japanese people who have been using Bitcoin been doing which is great actually and is growing and blooming even more.
I agree if anyone is so much against taxation and regulations then why only bitcoin but you should be against all sorts of taxes and regulations whether it's road tax, water tax, sales tax and regulations regarding establishing industries, import export, immigration etc etc. Imagine what it would be like when there are no taxes and regulations at all the situation would be like anarchy especially when there are no regulations. We should look at the positive side of things instead of only looking at the negative ones.

https://www.wired.com/2013/12/fbi_wallet/

The FBI seized 144,000 bitcoins, which are worth $300 million today.

Right now bitcoin taxation is impossible, with or without address blacklists.

It's not impossible. They can raid your home, seize your computer, transfer your bitcoins from your wallet to theirs and then go on a nice vacation with your money.

Yea. How could they know how many wallets you have and how much you have in the first place? Don't use wallet services where they hold your private keys for you.

Also, blacklisting wallets is a very very bad idea. Let people decide on how they want to hold their cryptocurrencies.

You can put some governments wallets on blacklist but they will also get that information and open the new wallets.  So this is like endless circle that leads to no solution. Besides some governmental bodies don't open the wallets because of taxation purpose and don't forget they can always find their way.

Haven't those already been sold at auction?

I don't know. But a blacklist would of prevented it or will prevent it if they are still hoarding them.
