Blackwave - Data security & privacy solutions.
Problem & VisionThe Internet is a great medium to communicate and collaborate. However, personal and professional users of current standards face a significant problem: it is nearly impossible to communicate through the internet without giving away private information. Our solution is a decentralized messaging application usable for instant messaging and email-like messaging with modern features that doesn’t compromise on security and privacy.
For both private users and corporations, our unique solution does the following: protect users’ important metadata, anonymity, is resistant to censorship, protect against encryption backdoors and provide strong authentication using the Ethereum blockchain.
Benefits• Content privacy,
• Metadata privacy,
• Strong authentication,
• Network resilience,
• Anonymity,
• Transparency
(More information on the Blackwave protocol in our Whitepaper.)
Blackwave is designed to be a modern messaging protocol, it works in a client - server federation architecture and provides the following usability benefits:
• Users can send messages to offline contacts,
All messages are saved in the cloud (encrypted),
Users can connect multiple devices independently
Blackwave HostsIn order to take part in the Blackwave network, users need a host for their account and to manage their address on the decentralized directory (the host cannot change the user’s information on the directory without the user’s signature). Blackwave will provide free of charge the hosting software. Anyone will be able to host their personal account, the accounts of their company’s employees or provide hosting services to the market.
The Blackwave Directory TokenIn its efforts to provide strong authentication, Blackwave uses the Ethereum blockchain as a decentralized directory for users. To be discoverable by peers, users must publish their address on the directory through the Blackwave Directory smart contract. The Blackwave Directory Token (BWDT) has the following utility:
To register, update and renew the addresses on the blockchain, the smart contract will ask for a fee in BWDTs. This is not done by the user himself but by his host. Hosts including big companies should buy the BWDT regularly and in large quantities.
• BWDT will allow to compensate for hosting services at a discounted price. Our hosting software will be free but will come with a licence agreement that will require hosts to accept the BWDT from their users in form of payment and require them to give a minimal discount of 4%. Such a discount is important for a company that uses Blackwave at a large scale.
A necessary and irreplaceable tokenAn address, once registered, is valid for life. However, users, through their hosts, need to pay a fee to the smart contract for their address to remain active. If a user doesn’t pay the fee for some years, the address becomes inactive but remains reserved and can be reactivated at any time simply by compensating the fee on the blockchain.
Address registration and first year fee cost 0.80€. Yearly renewal costs 0.80€.
On the road to mass adoptionLess user involvement with blockchain and tokens is of upmost importance for product adoption.
Blackwave users don’t need an Ethereum address, to purchase and hold Ether, to purchase Blackwave Directory Tokens (except if they wish to have a discount) or have any knowledge whatsoever about the inner working of the blockchain.
Users simply pay a monthly fee to their host. The host then maintains an Ethereum address, purchases and stores Ethers and Blackwave Directory Tokens and use them for their clients when they need it.
Bounties5% of the 350,000,000 BWDT tokens will be allocated to the Bounty Campaign.
