Overpriced at .5 BTC given difficulty now in force.  At .2BTC, you should be profitable FWIW.  May be hard to find one that cheap though.

However, if you can get them for the right price, grab a few.  I really like my block erupter cubes, don't listen to the FUD they are incredibly trouble free IF you follow the instructions.  In particular, asic miner ships new units with the heat sinks only loosely attached to the board.  On any unit, new or old, I would definitely open it up and pull out each board to make sure the heat sinks are tightened down... if loose they will be worthless.

One downside if you need to run a getwork proxy on a server on your lan .. but that is pretty trivial.

My block eruptors have been running since December non-stop, trouble free ... very quiet, take up no space, never die.  While others (like the trash BFL 60 SC's) overheat, are noisy, require USB cables, etc. ... the ASIC miner cubes are standalone (except for the network server running stratum getwork proxy), quiet, cool, and nonstop.  For the right price, great!

They are cheaper than that from CanaryInTheMine.
Right here this thread.
If you are going to spend on one don't overpay.

I am relatively new to the mining scene and have all of my current mh/s into altcoins. I am thinking of picking up a Block Erupter Cube so I can start some scypt mining.

If I could pick up a cube for .5 BTC by the end of the week would it be worth it? dustcoin.com/mining shows at 35gh/s I could make an estimated .244 BTC a month at current difficulty.

Just say 3 months for ROI or should I just skip it and look for something else?

Thank in advance for any input!

Mine cost me $979 about 5 weeks ago, probably didn't even mine $500 USD since then till now, as the diff keeps going up. Now it's only mining at a rate of $216/month at 37 GHs (high speed), and tomorrow night the diff goes up about 20% and then it will only be mining at about $172/mo., but the diff is going up about 20% every 10 days, so in another 10 days it will only be at around $138/mo., and it keeps getting worse. They are only going for around $379 on Ebay now, I wonder if the price will hold there or if they will be worth crap in another 3-4 weeks. In another words, do I get more ROI by selling now, or giving it another month?

My Cube never worked right from day one, and has managed to fry 4 PSUs.  I've given up on it, it's lying in the corner collecting dust.  Waste of money.

You can buy as many cubes as you like on here from several reputable sellers for way less than .5btc.

It's for Bitcoin/SHA256 coins. It's a fair price, but if I was buying a 2nd hand miners I'd look for something with low power consumption because it will run profitably for longer Bitfury 55nm boards are the best of the old stuff. You're talking about a difference of 38GH@360W v's 45GH@70W. If you can haggle, say something like "oh but it uses so much power.. I'll couldn't offer you any more than .4 BTC"  Wink

You can't mine scrypt with it.
Asicminer products has never brought ROI for their buyers, only for the sellers.
They are only fun to have it.
If it is because of greed you start mining and not for fun, then you should look
for something else.
And BFL is also out of question, look at all the threads with only dissapointed customers.
