In the last couple of days, I have come across 2 examples of how Blockhain & Bitcoin is being used to make real difference in peoples lives - especially the less privileged. These are real world examples of Blockchain to uplift people and enhance the quality of their lives.

Acceptance of any new technology is much more easier when society at large sees it working on the ground and as a tool to reach out to common people.

1) In Africa, bitcoin presents an "opportunity to do what people are calling 'banking the unbanked'". More than 350 million Africans do not have access to traditional forms of banking.
