For the basics, you could start with video courses. Than move on to online courses that makes you get into everything systematically and lastly you need to move into piles of text in order to be able to achieve some programming knowledge in blockchain. Theoretical part are very important when you start but it's all practice and experiments when you have the knowledge about the technology and how it works.

There are a variety of blockchain courses on the internet. Some are good, some are bad. Some are straight facts, while others try to be fun and entertaining.

After much research, the majority of individuals that are taking blockchain courses already have an understanding about the technology but are seeking new information. To follow that, most who are taking the courses are in search of certifications to provide others with documentation of their knowledge and achievements.

Online courses through universities are providing education on progressive technologies, but there is oftentimes a large fee attached. Free online courses are good, but their certifications are not always credible in the workplace.

To conclude, as a blockchain community, what is your preferred style of learning and why? Is it through forums, articles and research papers or is it through educational courses that might provide certificates?

As business technology is fully and gradually tending towards blockchain technology, I think a proper education in this for those who are interested would be the best, I mean proper education like learning professionally to get certificate, because I have seen so many people that has gotten job this period, just because they could show their certificate signifying proper training on blockchain technology.

No one would hire you as a blockchain developer without a proper certificate, except maybe you just want to see some few ideas you get through other nonprofessional means to personally develop your own blockchain, which one cannot expect to be as perfect as learning educational courses offered by higher institutions.

There is a big problem about this. I see these courses, certificates, prizes everywhere. But how many people in this world can we really count on as experts?

I mean, who's gonna give these lesson and which authority? Who gives these lessons? What competencies do they have? Obviously, these are big problems. I'm not saying this for the tutorial. However, it seemed to me that opportunists could easily make money.

I like learning through the diversity of available options that you mentioned; mainly articles & research papers followed by online courses, supported by reading books and videos.
I don't think there is one method to learn/study blockchain technology, I'm certain that uni courses wouldn't have all the relevant information required to get your head around everything. Similar to how all the research papers in the world don't have the answer either, or online courses that claim to provide all the knowledge required.
Diversity of study is the key to learning new technology, until there are more concrete courses with diplomas/degrees and a level of authenticity.

Having online course selling is right now a big thing and people try to make money that way. It could be about blockchain or anything else, I have seen something as offline as woodworking classes where the guy basically just teaches people to build stuff on videos and assume you will follow his lead. So these online blockchain courses could very well be scams where they are teaching very basic stuff, if you want to learn more about it I would suggest picking your courses very carefully.

Learning solely from forum posts and articles tend to be quite a disjointed experience. It can also be difficult to tell what is good information and what isn't.

Research papers tend to be aimed at a very high level since their main audience is assumed to be already knowledgeable.

Personally, I've been using MOOCs (e.g. edX, Coursera, Udacity) for most of my learning. While I have never taken a blockchain course before, I find the structured nature of these courses to be ideal and the fact that the instructors tend to have master's or doctorates gives me peace of mind. The courses are almost always free to audit, and there is usually an option to pursue a verified certificate for a small fee.

I've learned a lot from this forum and other platforms that offers free and people loves to share knowledge for free. I'm also taking up some courses that has enrollment fee but as long as I afford it, I don't put it on my mind that it's too expensive.

My mindset is we have to invest in knowledge for everything that we are interested to learn. Lucky we are if there are experts who are sharing their knowledge without asking anything in return. Having certificates will make your CV look good but it's still the experience and skill that you can offer, some takers are just using their certs as decoys just to land a job.
