A blockchain marketplace in a ****** industry with products/services of very high prices possible?
You might want to make the censored part clear so we can fully understand your question but creating a new marketplace [be it a blockchain-powered one or not] with products of significant value isn't going to be easy [in terms of gaining users].

Online shopping or renting a cab through a marketplace issued token seems reasonable, But what about products or services that cost upwards of thousands of dollars.
Not that reasonable.

Does it make sense to create a new blockchain powered marketplace for such an industry, Since a lot of currently running centralized marketplaces are profitable but cost customers a lot of money. Commissions of such marketplaces can range from 5 to 20 percent.
Not sure about the type of industry you're referring to but there are way too many marketplaces [regardless of their nature] and most don't have enough traffic [in the crypto world].

So in a sale of lets say 5000 Dollars the marketplace makes 500 - 2000 Dollars which seems very unreasonable.

Can you please share the link where you have seen the 5% to 20% commissions. Why do you think it is required to create one blockchain marketplace?

What services?

The only place where markets like this are dominant is places like darknet markets and that's because they can't function any other way.

If there's a centralised alternative people will take it. It's more convenient, less capacity for ballsing up and there's always someone to moan to. The higher the price the more wary people will be. Some convoluted escrow system isn't going to be attractive.

And if a decentralised alternative is somehow cheaper then it's likely you'll be charged the same by the person you're decentralising with.

I don't think we needed a Blockchain Marketplace, if there is an existing blockchain marketplace I don't think there will be any differences as compared to the functionalities of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

Even without blockchain marketplace you can still do peer to peer transaction using bitcoin or your any other preferred cryptocurrencies globally in a short period of time regardless of how much money you are transferring.

Do I make sense? or maybe I do not fully understand your point.
