It is time for blockchain technology to be use also in healthcare and a big opportunity is waiting for its implementation. There are already healthcare providers in some countries particularly the US that utilizes blockchain technology for better health services and delivery. The disruptive technology can be use in medical records for pharmaceutical supply chain, payment distributions and decentralized medical networks. It can surely revolutionize health care system because it has many useful applications.

For sure. Here are just a few organizations actively exploring the blockchain's benefits for healthcare: the FDA, CDC, IBM, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Pfizer, Genetech, Mayo Clinic.

The exact timing is really whats up for debate. The healthcare industry is massive and new technologies diffuse slowly. Healthcare IT budgets outside of top academic hospitals are fairly limited so blockchain adoption will mostly be driven by solutions that can demonstrate clear cost savings either in operational efficiencies, compliance savings, or fewer hospitalizations/negative outcomes. May not be the sexy ideas that win at first but it opens the door to wider adoption down the road.
