I had 0.018 BTC in a blockchain wallet since 2013 and someone managed to log into my account three days ago and steal it.

I am an absolute noob when it comes to bitcoin, I just bought a small amount back then and decided to hold and see how high it went.

I think no one can disagree that hardware wallets are the way to go but... AFAIK, old blockchain.info wallets are not that easy to recover. Don't you need the wallet backup and also a couple of passwords to recover it? That would be mean that whoever gained access to the wallet might have got it through you, meaning, you should probably consider wiping your computer in case your wallet credentials were stored there.
Everyone who had lost their coins are commonly do give out blame into the service or platform they've been using without even thinking or realizing that keeping those valuable or important
information such as keys, seeds etc. to have access on your wallet and this is the pain when you do really entrust up on it fully and once updates and changes been applied then
it would really be a challenge on retreiving those back but i do read up that there's a way on getting those or accessing the coins but as mentioned that those coins
had already been wiped or stole out which simply means that keys or account log in or credentials had been exposed.

Get a physical bitcoin wallet! I cannot stress this enough! I don't see myself buying anymore BTC as I'm not technically savvy enough, but if I ever was to buy any in the future I would 100% get a physical wallet. I got complacent after 8 years and lost £700 worth (was £15 when I bought it in 2013) because I left it in the online wallet.

My email authorization isn't working either, I've been in contact with Blockchain for a while now and supposedly they are working on it, not with their bullshit chat support nor email support, but with their wallet developer

Also on twitter they have acknowledged the problem, but it's still bullshit, I've been concentrating on work instead of stressing about it

@OP until now, are you still having the problem that you don't receive any email notifications from them? Have you also tried this stuff?

https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000937726-I-am-not-receiving-my-authorization-email

it's kinda worrying if you did not retrieve the seed for transfer
It's not the seed that his problem but the email notification that usually comes whenever we log in for verification and authentication.

I also have mine in Blockchain.com but it will be some weeks before I open it since the wallet, I'm using here is for my 77Coin campaign, it's kinda worrying if you did not retrieve the seed for transfer, I hope it's just a glitch it happens in the past before, but they have fix it already, they have millions of clients worldwide and they better be sure that their users can open their account or they will lose clients.

I think the seed phrase from blockchain will not work on Electrum base on what I heard before. I never heard someone succeed in restoring their seed phrase(Blockchain) to Electrum with their wallet. It seems that blockchain has a different derivation path but until now I don't see someone solve their problem by just restoring the seed from Blockchain to Electrum.
OmegaStarScream is right, It works. Last year I used the same procedure I described above to import my seed from blockchain wallet to electrum. I was able to view my default bitcoin address as seen on Blockchain wallet. I created my Blockchain wallet around May 2017.

Why not just use the recovery seed on this link https://login.blockchain.com/#/recover
You should see your old wallet and balances.

It does work actually. The old seed (before they upgrade a few years ago) wouldn't have worked in any other wallet except theirs, that's no longer the case:

I think after reading through different online stories you have noticed by now that blockchain wallet is not the kind of wallet you should use to store your Bitcoins.
The most Important question is, do you have a back up phrase of your blockchain wallet because to me, it looks like support won't help you promptly. If you have the phrase, Use electrum wallet to restore your account and spend your bitcoins

1. Download Electrum from the Official site (https://electrum.org) and verify the GPG signatures depending on your Operating System before installing it just to be sure you installed the right wallet software and not a malicious one.

2. Once you have installed it, Open Electrum, Select New and then enter your desired account name and click next to create.

3. Select Standard wallet and among the options select "I already have a seed"

4. Enter your 12 word seed and under the seed options button check BIP39 and click on next.

5.  I believe your script type on blockchain wallet was legacy as the default, so you select Legacy (p2pkh) and the derivation Path stays as m/44'/0'/0'

6. Enter your desired wallet password, click next to create the wallet. You should be able to see your bitcoins and spend them. If are not able to see your bitcoins, check the addresses in the wallet to see if one of them was your default address in the blockchain wallet.

Assuming that your funds are not stored in any imported address, you can simply restore your funds on Electrum[1] using your seed.

If you need to have access to the account because you have some funds locked in your interest account, then you must contact support, they're the only one who can help you with this.

Have had my Bitcoin in a blockchain wallet for a while now and not been a problem, I log on with my Number and my password and the email verification comes through and I accept and all is OK, has worked fine for ages now.

But since Friday my email verification is not arriving my end so unable to get into my account, now tried about 20 times with no luck. Tried my best on their support page and now in line with a ticket number. Normally I would not be too concerned and I just hold Bitcoin, never try and send it anywhere so feel quite secure I have not done anything dumb. But there is always that nagging doubt and more so now that it is starting to be worth quite a bit Smiley

Read quite a lot of stuff in the last few hours of it happening to other people, but still a little worrying

PS .. the one thing that makes me feel better is that the email is not arriving my end and if somehow somebody did try and alter the security settings I would get constant emails telling me this was about to happen, so cannot be done secretly without me knowing
