In the meantime don't put all your coins in there, just a few.

Beats me how could anyone put more than just a few dollars worth of coins in third-party sites with absolutely no guarantees. But hey, people do it.

Blockchain.info provides multiple ways to import and export private keys.

It's one of the few wallets that make it easy to run in parallel with another service (even the standalone bitcoin client has yet to get easy wallet manipulation facilities).

I use blockchain.info to shadow other wallets -- that means I can never be denied access, I always have another way in.

At the absolute worst case I can print out a paper wallet and know that I'll always be able to get access.

I like blockchain.info, but I wouldn't use it without also creating offline backups of my blockchain.info wallet.  Or, at least email yourself a backup of your blockchain.info wallet.  That way you can still use your funds in other clients.

Every time I have tried to access my funds in the past week, the site has been down.

My support is revoked indefinitely. My funds will now be elsewhere.

It had database issues that the owner was trying to fix last week, but the problem was to big, so the whole database was just reset. It should work like new now.
Probably a mistake to have both personal wallets and blockchain information running as a single service.
