I've never done transactions currently so I don't really know, but if you have that trouble, why don't you wait for 24 hours then try again? maybe there's problem they're trying to fix

I did just that, using electrum now instead although the problem seems to have fixed itself.
I'm not sure but if you are afraid you can always export your private keys and import them somewhere safe (Bitcoin core for example)
