I have yet to update my wallet at blockchain.info. Before I do, I would like to know what does 'updating ' entail? is there an extra layer of security? Any problems? And is there any cost? Thanks.

Don't update just yet when you don't need to.If you're really concerned about the fancy UI and animations, you may.Wait for a few days until blockchain.info would auto migrate all their existing users to the new system ,they might import old addresses by default saving you some time and complications.TBH,I hate the new wallet and never had a need to migrate.

I have been seeing a message on the homepage that I am operating an old version and that I need to upgrade to the new version. I have clicked on it several times and it looks like I changed to the new version because I was forced to transfer funds from an old wallet to a new one. The problem is that the message keeps on coming. I am now confused because I thought I had upgraded.

The new wallet is clunky. Not a fan at all. They suffer from the Windows bug -- an obsession with replacing words with icons and buttons. I think anyone who is incapable of figuring adequate fees should upgrade. But I stick with the legacy wallet.

I think with time blockchain.info will make it mandatory for all wallet holders to upgrade to the new version for an added layer of security.

just wanna let you know that the new blockchain.info's wallet interface is just more complicated than the older, you need more effort to operate it,i just regret to update my wallet to the newest, but unfortunately can't get back to the older wallet interface
and the wallet activities menu is so damn confusing me,to check your specific transaction details you even need to click on "verify on blockchain" menu first

Blockchain.info is trying to give a better service for you. I like the changes but I am still attached with the old version. It takes a little getting used to but nothing like a week or two of using it can't fix.

I think you need the update wallet from blockchain.info to enable you to receive their services, because the old wallet that there may be slight differences and limitations. Since I do not use the wallet of blockchain.info then I do not know the exact ins and outs, but you can see the details here https://blog.blockchain.com/2016/02/03/announcing-the-new-blockchain-wallet/ Smiley thank you

I've just updated the wallet. Several new features have been added, which I haven't tried yet. At the same I feel more comfortable with the old version of the wallet because old wallet is much user friendly than the updated.

Updating changes the wallet to an HD wallet. If you update the wallet, then you will have to send your bitcoins from the old wallet to the new wallet. That will cost time and a little bit of money.

The main advantage of an HD wallet is that you can back up all the keys that the wallet will ever use by backing up the "seed". You can also set up another copy of the wallet on another device.
