I think this is not only happening in Bangladesh but other part of the world. I have been seeing flood many regions and I think these was caused by high rain falls leading to heavy flood destroying houses and plantations. Conflicts everywhere and I think the world need to embrace peace again. Bad governments have been one of the major reasons why we have been seeing disasters and anger of the citizens leading to different conflicts.
In fact, due to the bad government in Bangladesh, the situation in Bangladesh had reached an extreme level.  This dictatorial government has run the country in such a way that people could not express their thoughts properly, people had difficulty in moving, everything had to be bought at a higher price.  Students could not get jobs after studying, government party people got jobs.  After completing their education, the talented students used to work as day laborers. Due to the way the country is going, at one time there was a call for anti-ageism student movement. On that call, all the students came down to the field and poured their fresh blood to overthrow this dictatorial government.  Since the fall of the dictatorial government, the country is doing very well now, I hope peace will return to the country soon.  Although much peace has returned, I think the peace a country needs will return very soon.

^^^ That's the advantage in the US and the UK... and Canada, and Australia, and India, and a few other places, the people can go to court in these countries, against ANYBODY in a man-to-man style. It doesn't matter what the politics, job position, or anything else might be.

If a government man/woman is taken to court in a claim for damages, man-to-man, the government man/woman has to answer as a man/woman. But if the people are ignorant of this, how can they use it or do it?

Anybody in Bangladesh who wants power for the people, needs to read the latest form of the Magna Carta, and then apply what it does when they use its tenets in the courts. The courts are set up with a section for going man to man in court... no matter who the man is. If the Bangladesh people understood this, they could take any of their corrupt leaders to court man to man for harm and damage done.
The remedy is not just good laws but it's enforcement. In the US the court is separated from the executive arm of government. The judiciary is independent and cannot be fully influenced by any organ of government.

But in most developing nations like Bangladesh, the Courts are highly controlled by the ruling class. Taking the government or its officials to court is a waste of time and resources because they can easily manipulate the judges and get favourable judgments. Sometimes, you will be intimidated or even harmed for suing the government.

We all saw what happened to protesters in Bangladesh; many of them were killed and others injured. There were also protests in the UK after four girls were stabbed and no protester died. Democracy might be spelt the same way globally, but its application varies.

It may not be easy, but as long as the courts of Bangladesh are set up like British courts, there is a section called "Queen's Bench." This is where a man can go man to man with any other man, even a government official. The thing that he deeds to do is realize that it is man to man, and not let the court push him into making it man to government official.

MA (Bangladesh) v Secretary of State for the Home Department

This site shows that Queen's Bench is active in Bangladesh. It does NOT necessarily show that the case was man to man.

Now if only Muhammad Yunus understood common law, and the solid way to implement it among the people. It's right there, in the Bangladeshi government. It's waiting to be used by the people. But you gotta know it and understand what it is to use it.

Here is what it is. All men/women are created equal. If somebody causes a man or woman to be harmed, whether he used government or guns to do it, he cans be sued for damages. But it has to be done man to man, not man against government official.

Cool
The problem is that some political leaders are blinded by religion. But they fail to understand that they were appointed to uphold the Constitution and not any religious book. Governance should be void of religious sentiments. Muhammad Yunus's undoing will be if he begins to treat Hindus differently from Muslims. Yes, we know that the government of Sheikh Hasina was not fair to all, but religious segregation should not be tolerated by the new government if they want to rebuild Bangladesh.

The problem is that Bangladeshi's don't really understand what British rule gave them. British rule gave them individual freedom from government people, or anybody else. The British gave them a government based on the tenets of the Magna Carta, a document that took power away from the British king and nobles, and spread that power among the people.

However, in the US, the whole government was set up based on the tenets of the British Magna Carta. Yet Americans don't understand this except in a small way. But it's so strong that it has kept America reasonably free for over 200 years WITHOUT the people understanding it.

I think events of August 2024 will be remembered by Bengaldeshi for long time. Desire for independence started by quota movement led to tough fight against government that was not fair. Government finally quit on August 5 but many people died or got hurt but thing is that freedom always ask for sacrifices.  By the way something also bad happened. Indian government released water from the Farakka dam without warning, and many parts of Bangladesh got flooded. Millions of people lost their homes or even their lives. This August will be remembered as time of both freedom and disaster showing how strong and brave Bengali people are.
The people of Bangladesh have sacrificed for the good of the country. Many of them died, while others were injured. Properties worth millions of dollars were also destroyed. But the problem with such a revolution is that the ruling class will still hijack the government and things might become worse. Since the system is already corrupt, it will be difficult to have a government that will wholely seek the good of the people.

But the students made the right choice by choosing Muhammad Yunus who is an economist, entrepreneur and civil society leader. With his experience I expect him to make policies that will help revamp the economy and create more jobs. As a politician, he should use his years of experience to unite the people and ensure that ethnicity and religion are not sacrificed on the altar of meritocracy.

The revolution has come and gone the most important step now is to make the people feel that their sacrifice is not a waste.

The month of August 2024 will be memorable for every Bengali.  After the independence war of 1971, in 2024, the independence war had started again.  The war started mainly around the quota movement and ended with the fall of the dictatorial government.
Really happy with our brothers and sisters for gaining freedom. It’s a shame it had to last this long and there were too many sacrifices to ensure freedom for the entire country and its people.

Then another danger started.  Indian government releases water from Farakka dam without any warning.  Due to this, many districts of Bangladesh went under.  Millions of people are disoriented.  Some have lost their houses, some have lost their lives.  This August will be remembered for the whole life by every Bengali.
Everyone in Bangladesh is strong and I pay for all of them. These are difficult challenges I pray that they all rise above it. There’s way too much wars going on but I hope enough people can see this and help. If they can.

Bangladesh people need to realize that they have a common law government, except in a few ways. If a government official hurts somebody, he can be taken to court for harming the person... not in his official capacity, but in his personal capacity... for harming by using the leverage of his governmental position to harm somebody.

Cool

It is very curious that you mention this and go about it ... You have been defending Trump's hate speech all over the place, justified him calling for violence in the Capitol causing deaths and yet here you are teaching lessons to others in other countries. Use of a governmental position to hurt others is exactly what you have been defending during years in this forum.

The even stranger thing is that you use freedom of speech to accuse Trump of hate speech in the USA. In the USA there is something called the First Amendment. This Amendment upholds anybody the right to the inherent freedom of speech that everybody has.

This freedom, while upheld differently than an Amendment to a Constitution in the UK, exists in the UK, too. So, you are welcome to call Trump's use of freedom of speech... to call it hate speech. I wouldn't deny you this right, because it really should be free for everybody to speak.

Trump didn't call for violence at the Capitol. But, you are free to say that he did, just as I am free to say that he didn't. It's freedom of speech. So, even if he did, it's his freedom of speech, same as yours is for you.

Or are you condemning him for using freedom of speech, but you are not condemning yourself for the same? You are a bit backwards here, right? Of course, backward is kinda usual for you, isn't it?

In July, the student movement in Bangladesh began mainly around the quota movement.  But the movement later turned into the downfall of the dictatorial government and the student movement was largely successful, but in August many students were killed in brutal torture by Bangladesh government forces and August is marked as a brutal chapter in Bangladesh.
However, the problem did not stop there, rather in the month of August, more than seven districts of Bangladesh were flooded and extensive damage was done in Bangladesh.  So far this damage has not been controlled in Bangladesh but the suffering is increasing.

Few years ago when major parts of my country was flooded, this was the exact story that I heard. That the neighbouring country released water from their dam which affected my country. Why must it be so? Why will a country's dam evacuation affect another country. If it is so, there's supposed to be a document of understanding by the two countries, stating how such situations would be handled without affecting the other country.

My condolences to the people of Bangladesh. Joy will come in the morning.

Yes 2024 is a bloody year for the Bengali nation. Dictator Sheikh Hasina made the country into a state where people took away their rights from freedom. People could not speak or do anything as they wanted.  However, student activists have once again freed this country from dictators by shedding their own fresh blood.  Man's imagined flood was this flood planned from India. Maybe the Indian government drowned the people of Bangladesh with water to please Sheikh Hasina. How tyrannical the government can be happy to act as it is. However, even if it is a human-made flood, we will accept this flood as a blessing because it is said in the hadith that if the country is free from dictatorship, the country will be completely cleaned by the flood rains and the country will be re-created which will be much better than before.

Have you noticed that there are more conflicts every year? What's going on with people? Why is that? Solar storms are growing, maybe this is related?

The world is moving towards another World War and we are seeing increased tensions globally that will lead to this big crisis. These global conflicts among nations and within the nations are a serious concern for the World's peace. The reasons for all these conflicts are usually geopolitical disputes and economic rivalries. These small conflicts can result into major conflicts and the world super power should take these seriously before it becomes out of hand.
Most countries are ruled by corrupt leaders and only a few nations like Bangladesh are able to get rid of them by sacrificing their lives.

This movement spread at the last moment only to distribute the pro-Awami League who ruled the country.  The quota movement spread in a terrible form on all the students of Bangladesh. They have been persecuted with such cruelty and brutality that it is beyond imagination, and everyone's conscience is stirred at the thought of such oppressed rulers.  So this dictatorial ruler is gone now Bangladesh will start marching towards progress with smiling face.

This is really condemnable because this is a war between politicians but the people are the ones who suffer the consequences. And with such evil thoughts, they are really no longer qualified to lead the country.
at the receiving end of a crisis as this, the poor and vulnaurable Masses are the ones that are left to suffer and bear the consequences of the action of a selected few. At first it was a fight they hard to struggle to fight in pursuit of thier freedom and liberation based on the quota system and now they've been forced to leave thier homes by an orchastrrated flood that's still being politicised. Just mere watching some clips of the flooding in Bangladesh and how lives have become miserable for those that are affected got me so emotional and the poor who are left stranded with no boats to pilot them to a much safer zones have to suffer from this.

Either the release of the water from the dam by India is politically motivated or not, lives and people's freedom is at stake and something needs to be done about it.

Bangladesh has faced two major crises within a short period. The ousting of Sheikh Hasina was a victory for democracy since there are reports that she became authoritarian towards the end of her regime. Sadly, the protest has now been given a religious or tribal colouration. There have been claims of attacks on the minorities who had enjoyed more privilege during the government of Hasina.

These reports have been debunked by the Bengali government but it is giving a wrong view of this revolution. Youths in my country used the protest in Bangladesh as a reference to a successful uprising against bad government. But it is disappointing to hear about these attacks on peaceful civilians due to ethnic or religious affiliation.

The flooding has also been politicised. The people of Bangladesh see the opening of the dam as punishment for the forceful change of government which is perceived as loyal to New Delhi. While India denies opening claiming that the rain was caused by high rainfall.

The burden now is on Muhammad Yunus and his team to unite the people and alleviate suffering and poverty.

I am not from your country but I have been following the news related to the issues happening in your country. I do not judge whether the protests and overthrow of the old government were right or wrong because I do not know exactly what is happening in your country and I need more information. But with what has happened recently, I agree with you that the floods you are facing have been politicized because as far as I know the Hasina government is quite close to India.

This is really condemnable because this is a war between politicians but the people are the ones who suffer the consequences. And with such evil thoughts, they are really no longer qualified to lead the country.
