Linux binary for Bytecoin new version, please
The Linux binaries are still in version 0.8.4.290. That's too old. I now have sucessfully compiled a new wallet version 0.8.6.295 on Ubuntu Linux 14.04 LTO. It's not trivial.The README for the current source code tells me to use gcc 4.7.3 or later. Ubuntu 12.04 has an older version of gcc. I don't know how to bring this together. I personally don't want to run after new versions in ever shorter intervals.
I prefer to simply install packages. Of course the compilation of all prerequisites should be possible, but the overhead is too large for me. And beginning with Ubuntu 14.04 LTO they have implemented this stupid 3D desktop, which is incredible slow on VMs, with a process "compiz" consuming a lot of processing time. I get crazy.
On xubuntu the desktop is much more light, but I don't know how to install the prerequisites "cmake", and "c++" (build-essentials).

I've checked this problem in Bytecoin with a fresh version of simplewallet from github. Is works the right way. In case you have a "Transaction extra parse" bug you have to update your simplewallet.

Full story: Me and my friend were working on merged mining but we haven't released this code because community is against it. By friend (Amphibian) decided to release another coin with MM support by himself and he started to debug it on a real network. Both BCN and BMR wallets aren't able to parse generating transactions with merged mining tags inside. This is not a problem for any of these networks: networks are up and running (node software doesn't check this field) and all money (except Amphibian's block rewards) are safe. But some of users aren't able to parse a blockchain.
Both BMR and BCN coin owners are to update their simplewallet software:
- BitMonero has been fixed an hour ago
- Bytecoin wasn't fixed but their fresh version also works fine.
