bitcoin folder on XP is usually stored in to C:
\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\ Applicationdata\bitcoin you can also use %appdata%bitcoin form the run dialog box to find this folder.

AFAIK in Windows XP there is no "Roaming" under Application Data. The bootstrap file will need to be put into

Code:
%appdata%/Bitcoin

Typing this path into Start>Run should bring up a file manager window directly there. Since %appdata% is an environment variable, you can't really just "find" it as a subfolder of anything.

That being said, Windows XP is insecure. I would not use it for any appreciable amounts of currency. Even with cold storage, it is presumably possible for a tainted file to come on that might "patch" the bitcoin code to leak keys in signatures. Beware!

I was attempting to download the blockchain for bitcoincore, but it was taking too long. So I grabbed the torrent and it easily downloaded.

So Im trying to place bootstrap.dat somewhere, but cannot figure out where to put it. I cannot find the roaming folder that its supposed to go in. For the addresses mentioned on other threads, I cannot find it in there.

I even posted a thing on odesk for someone to help do it for me, so far no response.
