Most new crypto coming to market have gimmicks just like you proposed, and while the shit might sell to people looking for the next hot thing, any coin linked to scotch probably won't even make it to the yobit 1 satoshi graveyard, because it wouldn't get listed there in the first place.
Distillery is selling gimmics all the time. All the packages and weird mystical names. Imagine they can say "your father drunk it exactly 20 years ago....here check out his comment..confirmed by blockchain". And all the important information that they print in little books inside scotch cases. "this is from finest grain that originates from Odin himself" etc. And you say hell yeah this is much tastier than same bottle without a case and without book but with same alcohol in it.
Now Scotch coin is just digital certificated that can be linked to each individual bottle and traced back to the field it grew on.
Its a gimmick no doubt. Have no real value. But it allows whole new level of marketing.
Like right now they go through very hard change. They try to remove years from bottles. Because supply just overwhelmes them. So they invent some names like Isle Of Jura "Superstition", meaning blended scotch. Now imagine they can allow you to actually choose you blend, or pay higher price for actual single malt scotch. Order bottle of whiskey for your sone 21 years birthday and shit.
And value of bottle increases with time. You can sell it on free market for whatever price you want but product itself is there, its price goes higher, and its a product that people do collect and keep for years and show them to their friends, and they ready to wait for them, and they actually invest in them real money.
