Goodluck getting your money back but I don't think it will be back because even if paypal do ask him questions, he can lie and turn things in favor of him, the scammer. There is still a chance though that you would get your money back so I guess paypal will protect you. Next time make sure that the person you are transacting with is trustworthy and has many successful trades before buying btc on paypal from him/her.

You can actually dispute this kind of transaction because you use mode of payment as goods. Just don't tell to the support that you use it to buy bitcoin because it will fall to digital goods which is no dispute. Just tell that you bought some goods and it didn't arrive to yoo. No need for screen shot to present.

Just for clarification, paypal DOES cover digital goods i read about it somewhere on their policy changes afew months ago. However I do not know how they will handle bitcoin transactions. Forums all over consider paypal an outcast and I would think for good reason, its enough for me to avoid paypal like the plague for selling btc.

Declaring as goods was definitely a big mistake cos the onus is on you to show delivery and that counts as courier proof not blockchain screenshots. I think declaring as services now is safer then declaring as goods as you no longer need to show as much detailed proof as you did for goods. Goods can also be refunded when a user declares did not get it in the correct state which for services declared as goods is a default chargeback.

I've send a payment as goods and services, he blocked me, and then I opened a dispute like 30 minutes later!
He was sending messages that PayPal doesn't cover digital goods.

I've called PayPal and said it was a physical good.
They said they will ask him questions.

Is he going to successfully scam me or PayPal will protect me?
I don't have screenshots, logs of conversations, nothing!
Will PayPal still protects me?

I think paypal will protect you. But for future, avoid using paypal for any currency exchange transaction, if you can. I think Paypal do not like currency exchanger. Used to exchange OKPay a few years ago. Took almost 3 weeks to resolve the problem.

I don't have alot of experience with disputes for digital goods for paypal but always make sure you're trading with a trusted member (100+ succesful trades) or use an escrow. You should always use an escrow when trading btc. I hope you get your money back.

if uou used credit card, you have chance that your fund back to your account.

That's what I would do. Call your credit card company, explain what you tried to buy and that they never sent it so it needs to be charged back. The good thing is you have leverage with them. If they say they can't help you you just say you'll have to cancel your card then.

I don't like Paypal , they require lot of 'stupid' terms . For example I had a online website with cd keys with games . Every day I was getting chargebacks on Paypal .
Also if you are trying to cash out , you can max cash out 2500$ per year or you have to give them photos with your identity

I don't trust paypal and that's why I trade using bitcoins. I won't blame paypal but the reversible system is not as full proof as escrow service so when it comes to deal on the internet, it is advised to avoid reversible payment methods. Payments on paypal are reversible even after several weeks so it is very risky to go with it. I hope paypal will understand your side and take necessary action but I don't think they will do so.

i am don(ripper's big daddy).i clean scammers.
*snip*

What ever transaction made in paypal through bitcoin do not cover any protection to users , so it means that you wont get goods and the payment sent is gone for ever. Be careful when using paypal as their are lot of ways to scam anyone in paypal.

Safe your energy you can explain this 100 times a day and people will still not listen and ignore all the warnings, how many times respected members here, have warned newbies or other members about paypal 100 times is not enough, and still they ignore the warning and do the deal and when it's too late they come here and cry..

@op all you can do now is to tell paypal the true story and maybe you will be lucky not lie to them it will just decrease your chances to win the dispute!

To be honest I think the scammer got you, I know it is not very reassuring but we must be extremely careful when dealing with bitcoin especially if you are going to exchange it for paypal or similar payment methods.

That is why we have to be very careful with the way we go into anonymous transactions like bitcoin and others crypto currencies. PayPal may not do follow up and refund your money if you did not provide screen charts. PayPal has terms and conditions and since you cannot really provide them with verified evidence it might be difficult for you to get you bitcoin.

There was a way to get your money back through Paypal. You would have need to tell to Paypal support that it was an unauthorized transaction and they would have send the money back to you. This was a lesson to learn for you to never use Paypal to buy bitcoin ever again.

You rushed to call Paypal without being prepared to fight the scammer back. With Paypal it is easy to fight the scammers , you just have to be creative.

how can i buy btc with paypal?
i thought paypal is the big rival of the BTC

tell me pls

you can find someone in currency exchange section if they are willing to sell their bitcoin to paypal but take note, most members here don't trust newbies like you when talking about reversible payment method.

Next time use escrow in making transcations to someone you dont know.it will lessen the risk of getting scammed. Maybe you learned a lesson on what have just happned to you.

It is very unfortunate that you trust an individual and in using PayPal at that. PayPal is not yet that friendly with Bitcoin, we have to always remember that. I think there are more trustworthy exchangers out there that help you with your Paypal funds to be converted to Bitcoin. Right now, you are at the mercy of Paypal and the one who scammed you. Hope you can soon recover your hard-earned money.

This is a big lesson to all of us. Never ever trust a person unless you have already transacted with the guy many times and he has a good reputation also with other buyers/clients.

Which may make your situation bad is because you have no evidence including proof of conversation, and it is quite strange how you conduct online transactions without any evidence of a conversation. Do not ever tell the PayPal if this transaction is to buy bitcoin because the situation could get worse for you, in future better to careful in online transaction using PayPal.

PayPal is pain in the ass... Considering that chargebacks can be made when you even buy with PayPal you will pay higher price for btc than you could do otherwise , if you bought with an different method. Not even for bitcoin, people do SE on them easily, never trust PP...

Hope you can receive your money back, I feel your pain man Sad good luck!

For btc paypal doesn't offer protection for sellers but as you said you were buying im pretty sure they'll be reversing the transaction in your favor... If i were you id straight up tell paypal rep that he was selling btc and he never delivered after pay. I sold .3 btc to someone using paypal and they reversed the transaction telling paypal that it wasn't them using the account so it wasn't an authorized transaction. They told me i was basicly sol as they didnt offer seller protection but they did offer buyer protection so even though i had screenshots of paxful trade log it didnt help me as a seller because they only offer buying protection. Hope this helps.

I've heard of problems and scams with bitcoin purchases before. PayPal doesn't understand bitcoin and doesn't verify that it has been sent.

If you have any private messages from him via PayPal then there is nothing to worry because they will check your messages to find proof. If you contacted him through this forum or something else, you can still show screenshots to back yourself up but that might not succeed because screenshots can be edited. You will be at PayPal's mercy in this case.

Btw, btc is digital stuff. Not physical goods. If what you purchased wasn't a physical coin like cassasius then it is not physical, it is digital and you can't get a refund with these transactions. (unless you convince paypal for that you got scammed) Since ebay don't offer escrow services for these stuff, there isn't much you can do other than giving him a negative rating.

Exchanging for BTC with paypal(or the other way around), if you're not doing so with a trusted member , is basically asking for being scammed.

I believe he successfully scammed you at this point.

How did you contact that person then if you don't have screenshots? No messages, skype or other emails? Is he a bitcointalk user then? You need to share the details of the transaction.

There is nothing that can happen with PayPal payments as the money can anytime be chargedback within 180 days of the transaction as they won't entertain complaints of bitcoin transactions/exchanges. They don't support those transactions and until you actually deal with a physical purchase/sale, you wouldn't have proof to provide and get saved from the cashback. They only work in favor of the sender.

Paypal would protect me I think.  I have major accounts there and tremendous feedback history.  I don't use Paypal for anything bitcoin.  For the future you should use an escrow service so you have strong protection.  I don't offer escrow services here, but some senior + members around here do.  You can check out several threads around here  Another sure fire way to get strong escrow protection is to setup a localbitcoins account and buy through members there.  You can pick one with thousands of 100% perfect feedback, plus escrow on top of that.  Never been burned by an LBC transaction.  Transactions going in the other direction have been smooth as well.
