OK... Folks... I will take on the task to upgrade IXCoin to the latest version of Bitcoin.

How much IXCoin are you willing to donate for this task?

I've gotten no word back from the dev yet but so far I've gotten 15,000 ixCoin's together. Just the wallet encryption would be enough as that is urgent.

I've got the 0.8.5 client working and performing some tests.  Doing it on a Mac OS X system.

Anyway,  let me know how much coins you've collected from the community.

If you want to build the QT version of the client, I've got a buddy of mine that does that work for both Windows and Ubuntu.  There's also a guy out there who does the Mac OS X versions.   The QT stuff usually is a pain to work with.  Same too with the Windows code base, just horrid.

Nevertheless, the core stuff appearts to work fine, I received a couple of coins from some guys a couple days ago.  Right now it is just cleanup work.

Was thinking the same thing markm, might work on it and see if it plays ball with the current testnet.  OP, let me know what you are willing to kick in, and conditions.  If someone more skilled or quicker than me is already on this, for pete's sake post here so I don't waste my time. I have kids and can only work reliably at night.

Even bitcoin itself did not have wallet encryption back when Ixcoin was created.

So there was no wallet encryption code to merge.

Right now it would not make much sense to update Ixcoin code without basing it on I0Coin's new code, so that it gets the RAM usage problem fixed as well as encrypted wallet and all kinds of recent bitcoin bugfixes and so on and so on.

It should be pretty trivially simple, just a cut and paste of I0Coin, changing the handshake bytes the ports the block / difficulty timing the name the images and so on just like making any other clonecoin.

It might cost a little more than a from scratch new coin simply because you don't just want a cut and paste job done you also want to make damn sure the result is exactly the right ports and handshake bytes and IRC channel and difficulty rules and genesis block and so on: the ones Ixcoin already currently uses.

Can you give me an idea of what I can expect to pay?  Maybe i can find a couple other guys to pitch in, although that won't be that easy.

Thanks.

Can I get a price quote on what it would cost me to have the ixCoin wallet upgraded?  It doesn't have encryption and I think it's like 2 years behind the Bitcoin upgrades.  Why would a dev do a much more complex merge mine patch but not something so simple like wallet encryption?  Makes as much sense as Satoshi's story.

I shouldn't have to pay for a dev with a premine but the guy pulled a Satoshi and disappeared, so what choice do I have given that I seem to be the only guy who believes and owns any decent amount of XIC, err, IXC.

I keep asking this but I'm not getting an answer - how much is a fair price to expect to pay as a Bounty for an upgraded ixCoin wallet?

Thanks!
