Actually it was the good match after a longer period, Estrada had their good punches in the first half. He only played the offensive game to score for the game point. Chocolatito was the good player but he can’t able to score the points in the first due to offensive game. Chocolatito had made his second half with the counter attack to the first half offensive game and he became a offensive in second half. The second half game was the reason for the change in the game, it was unexpected one. But his strategy towards game was unique,he only used the defending game and made the opponent weak by the punches.

After the fight Estrada said he expects Gonzalez to do better in the second half and that he doesn't want him to take over and so he pushes himself eventhough out gun to still maintain and throw some punches and that is enough to sway two of the judges.

He did a great job, it was a close fight, judges also are having a hard time scoring the match, and although this is already the 3rd fight, I'm pretty sure people will still appreciate if they will schedule the fourth fight. It's like a Pacman vs Marquez fight, both are very aggressive and very entertaining to watch.

Through the first six rounds, Juan Francisco Estrada landed 86 power punches while Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez landed 66.

Over the last six rounds, Gonzalez landed 121 power punches and Estrada landed 106. In rounds 8 thru 10, Gonzalez landed 73 punches- all of them power punches.

Gonzalez’s late-rounds surge narrowed the punch totals, but was too late to swing the judges’ cards in his favor.

And as the way I see it, it was Estrada on the first half of the fight as Gonzalez is a slow starter. But when he had warmed up, he try to get back specially with power punches. But only the judges can score the fight the way it is, so for them it's not enough rally for Chocolatito to favor him in the trilogy.

For me, it was a draw hehe. First half it was Estrada's while in the second half, it was Gonzales' and we could see it in the compubox. They were just relentless and was good as advertised and fans would even buy if there will be the fourth fight to really settle the score because some may see it that there is some sort of an unfinished business as no one dominated the other in the third fight.

I think that result is possible because there is one judge who score it that way. Yes, I do agree that in the first half Estrada was the busier puncher and scoring, but Gonzalez did more damage in the second half for me that he was able to overcome that sort of big lead that Estrada put in the first half.

After the fight Estrada said he expects Gonzalez to do better in the second half and that he doesn't want him to take over and so he pushes himself eventhough out gun to still maintain and throw some punches and that is enough to sway two of the judges.

Well I was busy at that time, but I've watch the replay.

It's sad to see Chocolatito is lose again, he was favorited in this forum and the bookie, but well it's what it's referee will always favor on the champion rather than the challenger. I don't know why Tim Cheatham can score 116-112 favor on Estrada, it's quite far to be honest. Estrada didn't even dominating Chocolatito for many rounds. I don't think there's will be a fourth fight, maybe Chocolatito is already have a plan to retire.

Unfortunately, our predictions is wrong, but if Chocolatito just didn't start slow, he may have a chance to win the fight. He is behind in the scorecard and for sure he knows it that why he made a big rally in the second fight and the numbers don't lie. But this judges didn't see it, maybe just one, who score it a draw and the number a slim of a led but this one judge judge have it 116-112 is a surprised but obviously this judges are not going to score it the same as we do and again, it was Estrada who won on their scoring.

It was a clean win by Estrada,  so he deserve to win and to the bettors who trusted him.

Estrada learned a lot from their last two fights he knows that Roman is going to come and take the fight to him so he accumulates points by playing good defense frustrating Chocolatito and landing good counter punches, style really makes a good fight they want to slug it out but Estrada landed the most relevant and solid punches and that's what gets the Judge's nod, the fight is too close but it goes down to how the judges appreciate both boxers styles and punches, and they score on a boxer who can land a good punch than who throws volume punches.

He was so effective with his counter punches, until the 12 rounds, Chocolatito was still the aggressor but he wasn't hitting clean shots anymore. It's quite close because one judge scored a draw but two judges does not want this fight to end in a draw as they scored in Favor of Estrada. This fight is one of my favorite fights this year and I'm happy that their rivalry has ended.

Yes, Chocolatito tries to rally in the second half of the fight and wanted to win, but it seems the Estrada has a huge lead already that is hard to overcome by Gonzalez. And I think Chocolatito would need to have a knock down or knock out to be able to overcome what the judges see in the first 6 rounds.

Obviously fans enjoy the fight although it might not end the way bettors wanted to be because Chocolatito is the favorite as per bookies.

Fan favorite fight for this year because it's a war and back and forth, yes, I do agree that this might be the best fight of the year.

I knew it! I should have bet on Estrada but then, I slept and when I wake up the fight was over.  I haven't watched the fight since I am sleeping, the first time I search on the result, a review said that the match decision is still controversial, a majority decision for Estrada.  I wonder what is the controversial there, I heard Estrada had dominate the 1st to 5th round, that alone can impress the judges making their succeeding scoring biased, since Estrada had established his dominance, so a little effort from Estrada can gain the judge favor each round.  I think this should have been a unanimous decision in favor of Estrada.

Btw, the way fans react to the decision, do you think there will be another match for the two?

Not sure if Estrada is willing for another fight, but who knows, if there is money on the line then maybe in the future they can still fight. Still very close though, and it's debatable as this standpoint, so we can still say that the decision is controversial specially that there is one judge who see the fight at 114-114. So I don't see any dominance on Estrada win here, he wanted a knockout in as he said before the fight. If he did then maybe there is no doubt that we don't need a 4th fight.

If I'm not mistaken, there is someone who voted for Estrada to win, and if he really did bet on him then for sure it was a good win.

Estrada is a heavy underdog even in the poll here Estrada only got 1 vote out of 16 votes

Estrada   - 1 (6.3%)
Chocolatito   - 15 (93.8%)
Draw   - 0 (0%)
Total Voters: 16

The fight is too close Chocolatito is pouring a lot of punches in the late rounds of the fight I thought that it was enough to get the nods of the judges but Estrada already build an early lead, I'm sure people will not mind having a fourth fight, the fight is just too close that it could go either way and it goes to Estrada's favor this time.

Betting odds for this fight.

Many people must have bet on estrada, perhaps even to try their luck predicting that the same thing of the past would happen, and were lucky to get it right, pity that I did not bet on this fight

Was Estrada the underdog? Well, if they bet on him they must have enjoyed their winning. If I would have bet on this fight, I would choose Chocolatito because I believe he is the better fighter, but this fight is really close and there could be a fourth fight if they still want to entertain the fans.

Congratulations to both fighters for entertaining the fans, and congratulations to Estrada for winning the fight.

Another fight with controversial decision, in Marco estrada defeated Gonzalez for a controversial decision, yesterday another fight in which he ended with another controversial decision, the fight for what I saw of videos until it seemed balanced in most rounds, but estrada came out of the fight As a winner, I think they should already think that this Is last fight, I doubt someone is enthusiastic that he wants to see another fight of them, knowing how always their struggles ends

lucky for those who placed bet on estrada.

The match is back and forth I only get to see the highlights but it was a very hard match to judge after the match I don't know who won but I favor Chocolatito because I usually did not read comments on highlights, I thought its draw, the judges favor Estrada by a slim margin but for me, it did not settle the rivalry, they just take the fight where they left off in their last two fights, this is a fight of the year candidate the way both boxers slug it out, this really is a legacy fight for both fighters.

and this is another upset that most of us are not expecting to come about. lucky for those who placed bet on estrada. now, wondering if chocolatito's camp will ask for the fourth one after consulting his family and promoter. seems that they still need to finish their face off in a clear ending like KO in the first few rounds. the stats with this third one is saying that estrada had a lil edge over chocolatito, hence, the win.

I have it as draw similar to the judge that scores 114-114.

Chocolatito usually starts so slow that's why Estrada was able to make out it and take advantage so in my book 5 out of 6 for Estrada.

But in the second hand, Chocolatito come back strong as well, so 5 out of 6 for him.

However,  Dennis O’Connell (115-113) and Tim Cheatham (116-112) for Estrada so it's Majority decision. Nevertheless it was really a war between this to boxer, one of the best trilogy in boxing and maybe this could be a fight of the year candidate.

Is that moved to 4th? At least i can bet that match (Sun, Dec 04 5:00 AM)

My money goes definitely for Chocolatito and i feel confident about it. Just looking at the wins by knockout ratio (75.93%) tells something about the world of pain this guy brings to the ring. There's just too much experience compared to El Gallo and this controversiality happened last time will guarantee that judges will be under microscope and can't afford to play favorites. Not going to be betting my house though as anything can happen. Too bad odds have already dropped to 1.40

So they make the official weigh in for this fight,

Chocolatito - 114.7 lbs
Estrada - 115 lbs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYpyCeYhWD8

You can hear fans of both side in this weigh in, everyone is excited on this fight. And we do hope that it will live to the hype just like the 2 others fights they had in the past specially in their first fight.

I'm not going to bet on his match, but I just want to see who this trilogy will end. Chocolatito was once thought that he is done with boxing when he lost to Estrada. But it seems that he got his second wind, and so after his lost, he was able to get back at his boxing career.

And yeah, this will settle once and for all, that's why I said that I don't like to bet and just want to see how this will end.

Because both are warriors and they will go at it with everything they got, that's for sure.

Yes, just sad though that no one in the media is hyping this fight, although this is a trilogy already, but still a good fight to watch.

It looks like the media are after huge names and unblemished boxing records to hype.  Besides, it is also possible that this trilogy isn't that attractive since the two boxers are too quiet to hype their own fight.  I agree that this one is good to watch considering Chocolatito always wanted to brawl it out.  I think this fight will go a distance, it has been proven in their previous two fight when they are much younger and possibly have more strength behind their punches.

When we thought that Chocolatito is done with his career, he comes back again and win that's why they trilogy is possible. And he is the favorite in this fight around 1.45 currently. But this is going to be a close fight just like the 2 fights that they had.

Indeed he will be, he defeated Estrada in their first fight, and the second fight was very controversial and the decision of one judge is too obvious that it clearly takes sides on his judgment.

Estrada though is the younger of the two but Chocolatito can still very well fight and seems to be very hungry.

Estrada needs to prove that he really won the 2nd match against Chocolatito so he has to give everything in order to beat him in this 3rd match.

Thanks for bumping this thread there's hardly any news or update on this trilogy I don't see this fight on my sports boxing channels and feeds when this match is worth watching.

Every trilogy has dramas and excitement, and since both their last two fights are close and controversial we will see who will end this trilogy in his favor, both fighters don't have that many fights in their career, especially Chocolatito and I'm sure both of them will go all out on this third fight, I still see Chocolatito winning this fight.
True, it's because of the division that they are, if this is like in the 130 lbs or higher, it could attract a lot of casual boxing fans and sports bettors.

I don't think it has something to do with the division, I believe this has something to do with the promoter.  Besides the two boxer also don't do anything to hype their fight.  unlike Casimero who loves trash-talking his opponent in order to cater attentions.

Bump,

Almost forgot with this fight lol, it's only 1 week before the fight will happen. I've check on the bookies the odds is almost same with the early odds which mean most people are agree Chocolatito deserve to win in the third match, most likely Chocolatito will win via decision.

It's just hard to see those ABC belts having, the regular, interim, etc etc on their organization, although Estrada has the WBC ‘Franchise’ title already. And could probably cemented his status as their champion if he wins this fight.
Yeah, in Wikipedia there's no description what type of WBC title that Estrada got, but after I doing some research I find if Jesse Rodriguez is a boxer who have the regular WBC title but he want to comeback to flyweight, so he lose his WBC title on super flyweight.

This is already a trilogy so a lot of things have had happen in the 2 previous fights that they really need a final one to settle as you have said the first 2 are controversial and the judges might score the wrong winner. Nevertheless 1-1 and Chocolatito showing that he can still pull the trigger despite his age.

Yes, although is the the oldest of the two, his experience and his guts will bring him to close the book between this two warriors. Also the votes shows Gonzalez as the favorite by the members here to win.

There is a very good pressure on both boxers here as to who will finally bring home the belt.
Chocolatito is clearly the favorite here as well as on the odds of the bookies.
But don't get too complacent as Estrada may be keeping his training on top of things as he wants to prove, he indeed deserves to snatch the belt.
But let us see if Chocolatito has his power inside the ring. This is really a good trilogy to watch out for.
Some of us really forget this one and it is only few days from now as we will be witnessing another good fight inside the ring.

I'm still monitoring some news though as far as this fight goes. Yeah, it's because Bam Rodriguez is jumping in weight and now he wants to fight next at 112 lbs.

So as I have described, there are lot of categories are far as the belt goes in today's era. Somewhat confusing as we all know that it should only be one belt champion in every organization but this has change.

And there are no changes in the odds, Chocolatito is still the overwhelming favorite to win.

Ok, it is now reported that the WBC title will be on the line here as Bam Rodriguez has vacated it. As per WBC's Sulaiman,

Quote
“It will be contested for the WBC title,” WBC president Mauricio Sulaliman informed BoxingScene.com.

https://www.boxingscene.com/estrada-chocolatito-trilogy-clash-come-with-wbc-115-pound-title-stake--170104

It's just hard to see those ABC belts having, the regular, interim, etc etc on their organization, although Estrada has the WBC ‘Franchise’ title already. And could probably cemented his status as their champion if he wins this fight.

And so this could be an added motivation for either of the two to have that title.

But obviously, regardless of what is the title in line here, this is a must watch fight as well for us.

i'm rooting for Chocolatito to win, I think he is more technical so he will likely win this fight. it's a trilogy that but I'm not so excited on this one as it's not the same as the other trilogy where the fight was really close. Well, I might be wrong, but I see this fight to end up a one sided fight only, that's in favor to Chocolatito.

The majority of us here picked Chocolatito, but it could be a new fight if one of them shows something new here, the first two-fight was dominated by Chocolatito many thought he wins the match, this is what happen the fight was left in the hands of the judges, I have seen so many controversial fights and this one is included, I hope this time they picked the right judges and the winner deserves his win, there could be no fourth fight between the two, they just need to pick the right set of judges
Yeah, there will be no 4th fight if Chocolatito will win this fight, it's better if he could just KO Estrada so judges decision is not anymore necessary. Estrada is a very aggressive fighter, with a great timing, I think Chocolatito could finish him. Lots of good fights this coming December, hopefully I'm wrong with my prediction so somehow could I could enjoy this fight.

But it will be a big task for Chocolatito to knock out Estrada because the latter has a good chin. But if Chocolatito will win here, if might be in the judges score card and then another close fight. Unless Gonzalez show his age in this fight then this could be a dominant win by Estrada.

Still far but hopefully the judges will be fair. This is a high stake fight and for sure the judges that are going to be assigned here should not be biased.

Don't worry about getting your predictions mate, just enjoy the fight because for sure as others put it, this is going to be war.

And since they have won their previous fight this year if I'm not mistaken, this fight has to take place but I was surprised that they have pushed it before the end of the year.

And so we are again treated with another great fight between this two legends so for sure another 12 rounds of action pack between the two.

This fight is long overdue and i don't know why the promoters of this fight keeps on delaying this, might be Estrada is buying some time to somehow let Gonzales aged a year so that he will be slower now than on their second fight hehe.

Just another side note though that Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donare wants to go down to this weight class. And he is targeting Chocolatito already, but let's see first this great fight and maybe Donaire wil l be just waiting at the side.

Donaire must take a great sacrifice just to make this weight at this stage of his career and if he could and face Chocolatito or Estrada then i think he has the great chance to beat either of the two and make Chocolatito retires. Though he looked old at the hands of Inoue but they should not be overconfident when facing the Filipino Flash as his patented left hook is still fatal when his opponent is not named Inoue.

The last fight of Chocolatito is this March and he won. While Estrada is just this September if I'm not mistaken. And their 2nd bout is December 2021. So it will be exactly just a year prior. And I was talking about Estrada though, because he will have to go back to the gym again after his win just last month. Nevertheless, as we have said, after he won he said he will take the privilege and give Roman his trilogy.

Yes, Donaire will have to go down again, and as also do agree that he has a big chance against those two because of his left hook and the power and  the speed as well.

And with that, does it mean that Estrada is the fresher of the two since he just had his last fight in September? Or it doesn't make sense out of it, they should be back to 0 and train as hard as they can?

In any case, Donaire could be their biggest threat and I agree that maybe Estrada will be a good test for him before going against the veteran as well in Chocolatito. But we will wait then, they will face each other first and Donaire just chillin and waiting for the winner.

Chocolatito is the better fighter but judges seem to want to see a trilogy for the promoters to make money if they pick the fight where they left then Chocolatito will have the advantage and the win, Estrada should show something new here, In both fights Chocolatito always gets the better of the exchanges, what I like about the two fighters is their style, they love to engage and stand toe to toe and that's what we are going to see in their third fight.

They should really settle for the last time since Choco is getting old and already passed his prime. Another exciting trilogy we will have this year and this one should also be settled for the fans and both boxers to remove any doubt in their last fights. I think this one will be the best since they both gonna give their best to prove to everyone that they are the best boxer against each other. maybe This time they won't let the judges decide who gonna win and they will gonna wrap it up when they see an opportunity to finish one another.

They say style makes a fight and a trilogy can only happen if we have fighters that compliment each other style, like the Marquez - Pacquiao fights and the boxing community always support trilogies because it the continuation of the excitement of the previous two fights, I'm sure both fighters will show up to fight hopefully one of them will end this trilogy, its a legacy fight for both fighters I hope Chocolatito wins this one, so he can cement his legacy, Estrada can still go on as he is still young.
I think Gonzalez already cemented his legacy in the 115 lbs as he had defeated a lot of great fighters in this division. But it seems he had met his match against a tough Mexican in Estrada. Of course, we will support trilogies as boxing fans, recently we just saw the Canelo vs GGG fight although it seems that GGG is already past his prime as he was dominated by Canelo. But this fight is still 50/50 in my opinion, although Chocolatito seems to the betting favorite, but not going to be easy match for him.

Estrada vs chocolatito is a good matchup it because ad we all know that these two great boxer defending themselves in order to claim the victory in the end but for now I am favor on Estrada because ad we can see his fighting style and technique is very effective in any aspects and for sure this will be a good opportunity to him to prove who is he inside the ring. Maybe this fight ends with a unanimous decision and not a KO but still Estrada will win.

The first fight Estrada vs Chocolatito, Chocolatito won via Unanimous Decision. The second fight were controversial since many people saw Chocolatito clearly won, but two judges score favor on Estrada, especially there's one judge score 117-111 while their fight are really close.
They are both good fighters and the fight will be to settle the score among them of who is a better fighter. For Estrada, he will have to do a better and more convincing job if he is going to win Chocolatito who is a more experienced fighter with higher KO's because the judges may not be able to favor him this time. Chocolatito will be many people's bet to win but the underdog in any fight can be highly underestimated which can be an advantage for them. Estrada may most likely win this time again, maybe clearly without doubts.

This trilogy will prove which one is the best here, looking from the odds Chocolatito is the favorite with 1.50x odds while Estrada is the underdog with 2.48x odds.
Estrada vs. Chocolatito, they are both the most anticipated and best fight candidate boxers, both have class and good results in the boxing arena, I've watched the two of them meet in 2012, which was held at the Sports Arena, both of which are now dubbed flyweight boxers.

I've seen both of them bet and throw punches, but this time I seem to have a feeling that the boxing victory this time will be won by: Estrada.

I voted for Chocolatito, even though he is the older and they say that he is already past his prime, but if you put a fighter like Estrada in front of him (his rival), for sure it will bring the best out of him again.

Yes, I do agree that the fight is controversial, specially the 1st one, and so obviously they needed a 3rd fight to settle down the score. Chocolatito is the harder puncher for me and as the rounds go further, we will see him out punch Estrada in terms of volume, so this will end on the card and Chocolatito with majority or split decision win.

Chocolatito will show what he's got here. Happy that they got this trilogy sched this year. For now, forum voters are rooting for Chocolatito. Let us see if this will be the same with sportsbooks. But right now, it is not yet listed. Seems that we have a good lineup of boxing matches before the year ends as I am also waiting for Inoue vs Butler match.

I also rooting for Chocolatito, I guess he will be the crowd favorite because of so many great fights that he gave us including the first two.

Commend as well for Estrada to honor his word that he wanted a trilogy, and so it is already set. Others say that Roman is also past his prime because of his age, I disagree though, for me Estrada is the more damage one even if he is the younger between them.

It looks like another rivalry has to end this year.  It is quite interesting how Chocolatito will adjust after the controversial decision that makes him lose his WBA (Super) super flyweight title.  I think his camp is planning to let the judge handles the decision and would go for the knockout if possible.

The second fight were controversial since many people saw Chocolatito clearly won, but two judges score favor on Estrada, especially there's one judge score 117-111 while their fight are really close.

There is a possibility that the decision is to set up a trilogy since I believe the 2nd match is quite close (possibly can go either way) and decided to give the fight to Estrada and somehow make it a bit controversial to open a path for a trilogy.  With a controversial decision, it will be easy marketing for the boxing promoters.

The second fight was controversial it's about time that both fighters go all out and go for the knockout, and not give it to the judges, both fighters love to engage which is the reason why judges are having a hard time with the two fights both fighters have good highlights I hope this time they settle it and go all out and go for knock out, Chocolatito is not getting any younger for him to afford a fourth fight.
I expect another slugfest and hopefully, the organization will get the right judges for this fight as this fight will be hard to score.,

This trilogy Juan Francisco Estrada Romero vs Román Alberto González Luna was planned on March 5, 2022 before, but it's got cancelled due to Covid-19 and Julio Cesar Martinez replacing Estrada position. Now the trilogy of Estrada vs Chocolatito has been planned on December 3, 2022 and it seems high likely would be happen considering Covid-19 case are keep dropping and the rules are not stricter than before.

The first fight Estrada vs Chocolatito, Chocolatito won via Unanimous Decision. The second fight were controversial since many people saw Chocolatito clearly won, but two judges score favor on Estrada, especially there's one judge score 117-111 while their fight are really close.
