Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts on the outcome.

Davis simply outclassed an old Gamboa here. There's no surprises here.

Let's look forward for a reunification between Davis and Loma.

Something's different in the first round as far as I can see. Gamboa is shot already, he can't even pull the trigger and very hesitant while Davis was taking his spot specially with his left. So I would agree that it was really a mismatch.

However, Davis seems to be gassing out in the latter round. Maybe he was not used in fighting beyond the 10 rounds. But he was ahead on the scorecards so it doesn't make any difference at all. But he can't potshot Loma though if ever they face. Loma is too good for Davis, in my opinion.

Davis just handed down Gamboa his retirement, he is totally dominated and we will never see again Gamboa in the main event again if he ever wants to continue, the last round is very painful to see in his corner, he was knockdown several times, Davis will be great if it is against Lomachenko, they are both champions and the fans only wants the best.

Sad story for Gamboa. He was way past his prime but tried to hold on to it, but Davis says nope. If you were to see the scoreboard, it was almost a complete win for Davis, plus the TKO in the last round which sealed the deal. Seemed like there was a problem with Gamboa's feet after round 2, which ultimately lead to his demise on the next 10 rounds, counted with the clean shots of Davis, Gamboa had no chance for a comeback.

I feel sorry for Gamboa, he is very defenseless in that round those uppercuts really connected, he has a very strong chin but with that kind of uppercut and how hard Davis connected I don't think his chin can withstand that barrage of punches, big questions now for the future of Gamboa like Chavez retirement is looming for both of them.

What do you expect, he is almost 40 years old, similar to what we see with Pac vs ODLH. Oscar can't pull the trigger because his opponent is very fast. Like Davis here, Gamboa doesn't know how to react.

Probably, but he has all the advantage of being young here. Gamboa was like hugging him in the last 2 rounds so I think he is also tired as hell. So Davis got his chance and knock him out for good.

Looks like Gamboa snapped his achilles tendon, if true, then that's probably why he got hit with so many big shots—it's very difficult to move around and avoid shots when you've snapped your damn tendon.

With that said, it took Tank 12 rounds to finish a 40-year old guy, not even a great champion and he had a snapped tendon LOL.

Tank will get humiliated if he plays with Loma... I definitely want to see him get humbled when he can't land a single power shot. He also likes to stick his chin out a lot, that'll give Loma the chance to land some brutal combos.

He doesn't deserve the shot to be honest, but I hope he gets it just so we can see Mayweather's cash cow get humbled.
I dont see any chances for Tank if he would fight with Loma its way too far when it comes to boxing style and as you said he do likes to stick his chin out
which a very sweet spot that would favor out for the opponent.

I cant imagine for you to sustain to last up 12 rounds on having a snapped tendon.

As expected, Davis won the fight via TKO in the twelve round. He drops Gamboa in the 2nd, eighth and the final round. It was a mismatch actually and as I have said, this is just a get busy fight for Davis because as much as everyone loves Gamboa here, lol, he is wayyy past his prime. So I hope that no one was caught around Gamboa's supposedly second win and has a chance to win here. So let's see a Loma vs Davis next.

It was an easy fight for Davis, almost a complete shutdown from the judges scorecard. I thought that Gamboa will survived the full 12 rounds and wouldn't be knock out. Unfortunately, he was caught in the last round and it was a right call from the referee to stop the fight. Of course as 20-to-1 underdog, bettors are going to put some money on Gamboa and take the risk. But it was not a Andy Ruiz performance (first fight) here, he was simply dominated by Davis.

The way Gamboa performed on today's fight, it seems that boxing career is over for him. I always though that there is no easy fight whenever a fighter would climb in the ring but tonight is just different for Davis as the fight seems so easy for him and dominated all the rounds.

I am excited to see a Loma vs Davis match-up soon.

I always like to see Davis dominates his opponent in the ring. He is very relentless when it comes to taking down his match up. Although Gamboa is already old for this sport, he needs to take a rest and retire because of his performance. It seems like Davis played the game and Gamboa is the one being toyed. We're all excited about Loma vs Davis so let's continue to support the both of them in the next fight.

It was the bad left hook that ended the right. I never expected this fight to go till the 12th round. Gervonta Davis dominated the right from the beginning. I thought the max this fight will go will be till the 6th or 8 th round.

Yuriorkis Gamboa is not the dangerous fighter anymore. Just like the rest of the stronger fighters who have made a name in the past, Yurioskis Gamboa is now becoming a stepping stone for younger fighters with great potentials. This is not an interesting battle.

I agree. Maybe we can see some glimpse of his past self here, but I'm sure that it won't be sustainable against a very good and talented fighter.

Tank Davis made it to the limit in his second try so that fight will continue tomorrow. But I'm sure in their stipulation that he need to pay to Gamboa and perhaps that is the reason why he pushed him as he lost in the scale already.

Young boxers like Davis seem to forget who they are fighting against. Now that the fight night is on, hopefully we can see an exciting March. Gamboa seemed like to he is getting old but still I placed my money on him because of his playstyle.

If Gamboa, wants to get into the contention this is the one fight that he needs, I have seen him in his best fights the guy has skill and power, but he slide down since he lost to Crawford if he lose this fight I don't know what will happen to Gamboa, he will have the same fate like Chavez Junior, they lose their big opportunity to get back.

He will probably slide into retirement if lost in this fight. Or if he is enticed by future offers, he might take his gloves again. Old legendary fighters, most of them, cannot say no to a nice purse. Yuriorkis is not that old. He can have future fights but only if he shows something incredible against Davis.

Gervonta Davis makes weight on second try, fight with Yuriorkis Gamboa set

Gervonta Davis took two attempts to make weight on Friday, but tomorrow’s Showtime card is set.

Here is the weigh in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UhyzV-STnw

(1) Gervonta Davis didn't make the agreed 135 lbs. He weighed almost a full 2 lbs of the limit.
(2) Davis pushed Gamboa during face-off, and there was a melee after that. I don't know the reason why he did that, Gamboa didn't say a word when he missed he weight so there's no reason for him to be pissed off, very unprofessional.

Gervonta Davis vs Yuriorkis Gamboa

Schedule on December 28, 2019
https://www.boxingscene.com/gamboa-vows-gervonta-davis-fight-great-war--144661
I have seen Gervonta Davis in a boxing fight in the junior class.
But I think Gamboa is also a great boxing player. Gamboa too, won a gold medal, this is an interesting moment.
This Gervonta is the toughest bet and test for both, Davis has also taken three times the world champion, a little difficult to predict strong and weak, we wait on December 28 this year.
I hope this match can produce the best and cleanest.

Both of them has a higher potential to beat each other, so there's no conflict that hinders on their fight to be postponed unless there's a health reason either. I am looking forward  for a fair fight on both of these boxers, and this December will be the final countdown that prevails their ability to prove to the crowd whose the best man standing and take the winning remarks.

The betting odds is not available in sportsbet, I don't know what crypto sportsbook are offering this odds, but as I see it here https://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/gervonta-davis-v-yuriorkis-gamboa/winner

it looks like Gamboa has no chance of winning with that odds... but if I am not wrong, Gamboa was once a champ, right?
so its worth taking the 11/2 odds.

Yes, as I have said before, he was an elite Olympic boxer, winning gold in Flyweight division in 2004. So when he entered the world of professional boxing, he sign with Top Rank, and won and held the WBA and IBF featherweight titles. However, something came up with he was supposed to fight Brandon Rios in 2014, but Gamboa was a no show. And later he shows in the camp of Floyd Mayweather, and that really pissed off Bob Arum, so he sue Gamboa for breach of contract.

https://www.boxingscene.com/gamboa-top-rank-settle-dispute-agree-part-ways--54224

And the rest is history. He could be a wasted talent, but let's hope he can re-ignite his former career against Davis here.

As far as I can remember, we don't have a thread  just because we almost forget about him. But since he is fighter A-list fighter in Davis, suddenly we still remember that he still box up to this point in 2019. Just a wasted talent though.

Now his fight against Gervonta will revitalize his career and will get back to contention for a title but this is going to be a tall order for Gamboa, I hope he gets back again I have seen his lost to a guy named Robinson and this is a bad loss for him because he quits here when he can still go on, I hope it will not happen again or people will mark him as a quitter.

Has not heard of Gamboa for a long time or maybe I just don't see him fight again.
Checked on his record, https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/391770, he has won his fight against Roman Martinez and that happened this year.

Yes, because he really fell out of the radar of most boxing fans. I remember that there was a lot of hype going with Gamboa when he enter professional boxing.

I think I will be able to watch this game, thanks for bringing this event to bitcointalk, I am guessing, the last time Gamboa fought we don't have this kind of thread, right?

Gamboa's experience may be put to work here by a younger and more able contender on Davis' persona. Not that I'm discrediting Gamboa's bouts, but then again Davis has shown an incredible performance on his last fights. If for technicalities and ring work, I'll have Gamboa on the bet, but for stamina, endurance and strength, I'll go for the younger Davis.

Could end in a unanimous decision in favor of Gamboa out here knowing how well Gamboa works on the ring despite the old age for boxers.

Ok, let's see if Gamboa has still has it, but for me he is no longer in his prime, just another get busy fight for Davis here, because he is looking for a Loma fight in the future. But still it's going to be a fun fight while it last.

Of course, this will be much exciting to watch, expect more punches side to side and bout to bout. Furthermore, Gervonta Davis had to catch more moves as per Gamboa's words on him. The future will decide for both of them, so let's wait for it and I am sure they'll give what's best they can do to win for the fight.

I'm on Gervonta here Gamboa used to be a great fighter but when he is outboxed he has no answer and can't really go toe to toe like what happen to Castellanos, where he was totally dominated and since he has no answer to Castellanos, he just quit, who is not really a very good fighter compared to Gervonta Davis, this is a good tune fight for Davis for the Loma fight.

A lot of hype around Gervonta Davis, very exciting fighting and guess who is behind him, Floyd Mayweather. That's why Davis is acting like Floyd during his prime, lol, lots of trash talk. But I don't think this is a step fight for him.

This fight will just showcase more of his skills to look like he is really the next big name and cash cow in boxing. It will be interesting if down the like Davis and Lomachenko will happen.

This will be a good show to close the boxing year and also the American boxing calendar with Gervonta Davis and Yuriorkis Gamboa fight. Seeing the last fights Gamboa defeated Roman and he will prove to be the tough opponent for the Gervonta too. All eyes on this showdown in Atlanta near the New year.

Well Gamboa, used to be an elite boxer, he is an Olympic gold medalist. However, when he involves himself with Bob Arum and then fight it out in a legal battle, that's when his problem started.

He sits down one year because of that, if I'm not mistaken. And then when he did comeback he somewhat lost his touch and looks like a journey man. He had a good match against an upcoming star in 2014 - Terence Crawford.

A quick boxing record for these two great boxers
Gervonta Davis is undefeated but Yuriorkis Gamboa has much experience compare to Davis despite of his 2 losts.
Their height is the same but the reach of Gervonta Davis is a little bit longer compare to Gamboa, but that's okay.
