Honestly I'm not familiar with these boxers, but I like some clarification, is this boxing or MMA?

I check the name "Alex Simon" and I found his record belongs to MMA (https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/181442-alex-simon).

Let me clarify a bit. This will be a boxing match. Simon does MMA but also does some boxing. This was set up as an exhibition match so that Thor Bjornsson could test himself out before his highly publicized with another former strongman named Eddie Hall. This all might not mean much to you if you are a fan of boxing, but it has quite the following in strength sports where both of them come from.

Thanks for the clarification, I was also searching for an answer because I didn't know that Simon also does boxing. However, I'm sure that it's a tough match but Simon still got my bet. I think exhibition matches are getting more exciting these days.

Another exhibition fight match again?

I noticed that there are most matches now are on exhibition fights, sometimes I may think that this exhibition fight is real?
As I know there is no official winner on this exhibition fight because it's purely an entertainment game and a non-profitable game and I guess the fighters will earn through the reward.

Anyway, is the exhibition match the same rules in a real boxing fight? I mean are they the same 12 rounds to finish the match.

Why boxing exhibition matches is trending nowadays? I think boxing body should regulate this one as they are making the sport somewhat like a circus. I'm a little bit okay if the exhibition match involves former boxers not youtubers or anyone not related to the sport of sweet science.

About the bolded text, i think the number of rounds defends on the agreement but usually it is not a 12-round affair. The rules i think is the same with regular boxing match.

We will not see a lot of skills movement on this fight but rather amateur fights as one of them do not have combat-experienced and the other is not a professional fighter, it's more of a personality type of exhibition because they are popular on their own country and their own field, I am not very familiar on these two fighters and if I'm going to bet based on their background I prefer Simon over Hafthor Bjornsson.

What can you expect in an exhibition fight, this is not  big event that the world will know, we are even lucky to that someone have shared and we know it here from our forum. I'm not also familiar with these two but I can make a research to get interested in this fight.

Exhibition fights are not real fight, sometimes they can be scripted.  Grin

This is an Exhibition match between 'Thor' Bjornsson and Alex Simon so I doubt there would be much betting, however, it will be a good indicator on how to bet on the upcoming Thor vs Eddie Hall fight in September, and on that one people will definitely bet their money.

September is a long way to go, but not enough time for Hafthor Bjornsson to fully prepare himself for his fight against Simon who is a an MMA and already competing in kickboxing, I wonder why they set up this fight it will look like a fight against a pro and an amateur, since this is an exhibition match, I don't see this become a bloody fight, Simon is a strong favorite here because of his combat background.

Well, if there is going to be some exhibition matches, I rather see these types of famous peoples fights, Thor is not really "that" famous of course but at least he was on Game of Thrones and played the Mountain and that's good enough for me, and he is also very well known in the strongman competitions but not everyone in the world is aware of that, at least not as much aware of game of thrones of course.

This is why I think it's quite obvious that famous people fighting would be a lot more fun. I wish there was more fights like these, it would be a lot more fun to watch these type of celebs, even if at Thor level celebs to end up fighting, that would be incredibly fun to watch. I can't say that it would better, it's definitely worse, but it would be still quite fun to end up watching these things and that's why I think it's going to have a lot of betting as well.

Yes, this seems to be the next big thing, reminiscence celebrity boxing match in the late 90's or early 2000.

I don't think it's for real though.

Yes, this is just for entertainment purpose and probably some money for the fighters. Probably shorter rounds to protect themselves.

In this fight though, I'll probably go with Björnsson.

Based on the information that I've gather and also I've saw, this exhibition match is for entertainment only and the fighters will just fight on how they will like but if this would be a non exhibition match then probably obviously the winner will be Simon in which he has the background on being a martial artist and also he is competing in a MMA and boxing in which it may helps him to have the lead on the fight however the opponent was quite strong too.

I'm also betting on Simon because of his combat and MMA background, power is nothing if you don't know how to use this effectively, in the case of Simon he can handle Bjornsson power, he will look like an amateur in this fight, anyway, this is an exhibition fight it's not serious fighting, let's see what will prevail power or skills

I guess the rules will depend on the agreement of both parties but most of the exhibition match I've watched before has the same rules with the real boxing fight. Well, I hope the purpose of this exhibition match is to collect some money so they can help more people in return, looks like an MMA fight to me or what not pretty sure since the information is still limited. We might see more exhibition matches in the coming months. With regards to this match I'll go for Alex Simon, his records looks pretty good to me.

Thanks for the clarification, actually I can call myself as a big fan of boxing but I don't know every fighter in different division and honestly, I'm not familiar with these fighters so I was asking.  Grin... But now I know it's just an exhibition fight which made me loss my interest a bit on this fight.

Not also familiar with these boxers. Exhibition fights are common these days.
It is like the playground of old and newcomers alike, test their power while earning something during this pandemic.
They can gain their audience as well as determining their strength inside the ring.
At least, we can watch live events now, unlike during the lockdown period.

Not only that, more fights are scheduled, more opportunity for us to put our bet. Sometimes even if I'm not familiar with the fighters, I just watch them because I love to put a bet just to kill my boredom as currently I'm on work at home situation, so I'm thankful.

Hafþór Björnsson is an Icelandic professional strongman and actor. He is the first person to have won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe's Strongest Man and World's Strongest Man in the same calendar year. He played Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane in the HBO series Game of Thrones for five seasons. He also is a former professional basketball player. (Wiki)

Simon is a former Australia’s Strongest Man, who went on to have superb success in powerlifting, setting numerous records, including in squat, bench press, and deadlift. He has since transitioned into combat sports, competing in kickboxing and MMA.

I don't know any of the fighters but judging from their combat experience it seems Simon has the upper hand he is into combat sports competing in kickboxing and MMA, in combat sports, it's not enough that you have the power you need skills on how to take down and how to subdue and hurt your opponent, something that Simon have in his arsenal.

i just googled it. this is the brother of the hound dawg in the series. when huge guys fight, you gonna be expecting a big fall as well. these are the ones that just want to intimidate the other one with their size.

big man just walking towards the other man and then without positioning their heaps properly but just throwing punches, he fell like a log in this fight.

Alex Simon doesn't really ring a bell with me, but given his transition from strong man to kickboxing and MMA, he should be the favorite to win against Thor. I am much more looking forward to fight of Thor vs Eddie Hall as these guys already have a personal vendetta a couple of years. Personally, I think Eddie will win!

Nor did he with me, but I am well aware it might be hard to find opponents for an exhibition fight with Thor because no one wants to risk getting smashed with that hammer of a fist. But, this will tell us more about how Thore is handling the training and how his gas tank is holding up. I like his approach, it seems more measured than Eddies who only posts throwing bombs and that could really impact the ability to go further than 1 round.

Also, here is Thor's first exhibition fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI1NfKc-EPI&t=1547s

This is an Exhibition match between 'Thor' Bjornsson and Alex Simon so I doubt there would be much betting, however, it will be a good indicator on how to bet on the upcoming Thor vs Eddie Hall fight in September, and on that one people will definitely bet their money.
