It's because that is Haney's style, but the funny thing is that Gamboa seems to be pissed or what? did he really thinks he won the fight? And if I may add, Haney is different from the big punchers in his division, his style is to break down his opponents by this long jabs as compare to brandish style of Tank and Teofimo or Ryan who wants to knock down their opponents viciously.

Floyd Mayweather used to train him if I'm not wrong so maybe he got that fighting style from the Pretty Boy.

Teofimo Lopez has been calling Haney so I think a Haney vs Lopez is imminent in the near future.
I did not know that Floyd used to train Haney in the past, in any case, he may have seen Floyd's style, hit and not be hit, defensive style that's why I see him doing shoulder roll over like Mayweather. As for his style being boring, I do agree, fight fans whats a all out war and this is the main arguments from those MMA fans that boxing is a snoozer specially if there are no knockouts or knockdowns in the whole twelve rounds.

A lot of boxing fans want toe-to-toe fight. But if Haney has some training from Mayweather, then we know the fight will really be boring. We know Mayweather's style. He's not an aggressive fighter by any means. He wants to calculate inside the ring so even if he's the laughing stock inside the ring for running, doesn't matter. As long as he will bring the money home.

And that is the beauty of boxing though, there are fans who love the toe-to-toe mano-a-mano like the Mexican warriors and the Fllipino Manny Pacquaio. They really gave everything and they doesn't care if they get hit or the mouth or not. As long as they proved to the fights that they are gladiators inside the ring.

However, they could be some who loves to see defensive fighters like Mayweather, "Sweet Pea" Pernell Withaker(RIP) who is a defensive genius.

Anyways, I think it's time to lock this thread now.

You said it right, Mayweather is a boring fighter, hence his trainees will follow his boring style, what made him different only is he is willing to accept big fight and he beat all his opponents, so he still make money, but if you ask people, we obviously know the answer that he is a boring fighter.

Well, let's move on to this fight as this match was not really exciting as we expect it, Haney needs to look for a fighter that could give him a real battle so he will earn some respect from the fans.

And that makes him a boring fighter, but still has good KO rate, maybe he wasn't just trying to gamble with a veteran opponent as he also respect Gamboa's power, so instead of getting so aggressive, he played it smart, and he wins it.
Yes, he is very different from the breed of young fighters on the lightweight, well, he is brandish as well but doesn't have the tools to back up like Garcia, Lopez and specially Davis. I would say that he is weakest of the three. But he did show good counter, but the Cuban can take his punch and was able to survived specially in round 11th.

I wonder if Haney can be popular with his style, nothing extra ordinary with what he showed, he was just their to simply win and forget to impressed the fans. I think his only way to stardom is if he keeps challenge a very popular boxer like the names in your list.

Hard to say, but for me, if he wanted to be the top of this division, you need to have a knock out punch that maybe he has, but not in the level of others fighter in the weight class. For sure not just fans are not impressed but the fighters themselves as they are not trashing Haney's performance.

Teo Lopez says that he is just fighting C level fighters and he can't even knock them out, that's thrash talking already, and he is right.

But first let's see if Garcia vs Haney will happened, assuming that Garcia gets a win against Campbell.

This was kind of a disappointing performance by Haney. He had a perfect opponent to look spectacular against and it turned out to be a snoozefest. I do not see him beating a Teofimo Lopez or Lomachenko. He might not even get a chance to fight those guys since he is not marketable and hasn't looked impressive enough for those fighters to consider him an interesting opponent.

You also give credit to Gamboa, he is a tough nut to crack. Though he is there just to survive but it's the lack of commitment by Haney to knockout Gamboa, he is just playing safe IMO.

Anyways, thanks to Gamboa, i won my bet @3.0 lol.

(Yabang)  Grin hehehe, Yes, a healthy Gamboa is still a tough nut to crack and he really prepared in this fight against Haney. But it seems that Haney has so much respect for Gamboa here. And as you can see Gamboa went to Haney's corner immediately after the bell rings, meaning that this two has really some old connection.

I have read that DH did not look impressive and he was a big favorite to defeat the Cuban man.

Maybe he needs to focus more on being a better fighter then by talking online since he did not make impressions today.

What a boring fight, I was expecting a KO but then nothing happened, look like both boxers are playing safe.

By the way @bisdak40 , what kind of bet gave you a @3 win?

Yeah, Haney was contend of his jabs to do the job in this fight, although he is the champion, his name is not on the discussion, for power punchers in this division Lopez, Davis and even Ryan Garcia, I'm sure he will also take a flanked from media, a shot Gamboa and yet he was taken to 12 rounds.

Congrats to @bisdak40 good call. Props to Gamboa as well, he survived the fight and even have those rounds in the card for me..

Although, a win is a win here. But I'm not seeing Haney fighting against the best of the bunch for now, maybe the winner of Garcia-Campbell.

Yes, that's why Davis really take a lot of heat not knocking out Gamboa early and he even went to distance with an injured Gamboa. But Davis was able to bounce back from that, giving Leo ad devastating upper cut. I like what  Gamboa said though,

Quote
“I’m here to mess up everyone’s money at lightweight,” insists Gamboa. “There are a lot of big fights to be made in this division. My first one will come Saturday night, with a lot of big paydays to follow.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/gamboa-im-here-mess-up-everyones-money-lightweight--153076

So he wants to derail's anyone on lightweight, Lol, he almost did that in the Davis fight, so let's see how Haney is made of.  Smiley

I liked his statement, it looks like he will not give Haney an easy fight despite he is an underdog in this fight.

Honestly, the odds are really attractive, but I like to ask from you guys, anyone here put a bet on Gamboa to upset Haney?

Gamboa and decision is @30
Draw @26.

What do you think about this odds?

Good odds mate, even half a stake on that will give you a huge win.

You gonna love Gamboa as well, definitely the underdog but with this kind of statement, you really think that he has a chance against a young and hungry champion in Haney. And specially with how the division is stack right now, he is motivated to derail all the big fights schedule for this young boxers.

Worth to take the risks, like the decision, it could last a good 12 rounds if that happens, he will have a chance to upset Haney.

Definitely, Haney is the favourite here. But for some miracle turn of events and Gamboa will win, those who placed bets on him just got their huge winnings of their lifetime. Not gonna place the bet but will watch the show.

Okay, I think I will take my chances on the odds that I shared, if Gamboa will give his opponent a good fight, the result could be a draw or him winning the fight. I will put a little bet then just enjoy watching the fight, i think that's a good idea, no pressure in my end.

Looks like Gamboa is a man of few words, anyways, it's funny that Haney brought up the subject that he meet Gamboa when he was like 9-10 years old in his father's gym and Gamboa acknowledge that. Also  they touch base on Gamboa injuring himself in the Davis fight and yet he almost go for a full 12 rounds. So for sure he will give everything in this fight as this could be his last chance for a world belt. But Haney definitely is young and in the discussions for the best fighter in this division together with Lopez, Davis and Ryan Garcia.

So, Gamboa was injured on that fight with Davis huh? Another reason to sell the fight to the public but i give Gamboa the benefit of th doubt and i'm rooting for him to go the distance but still he would loss this fight i think.

Hoping my internet would be stable too, as this is the same site that also provide a live stream for NBA in the bubble before but sometimes my connection is interrupted. Looking forward for a great fight, hopefully Gamboa can still go toe to toe with a younger fighter.

Betting for Haney via UD is tempting so i would go for this market.
Yes, the UD is much better than the money line, but I'm expecting that Haney could go for a big knockout just like what Davis did to Sta Cruz to show that he has power and to give some message to the rest of the 4 horseman, according to that announcer in the presser.

It's already on sportsbet.io

..snip..
Again ML is not that attractive, better stake for the over and under, or the winner & exact rounds. Might be difficult but it will gave you a better odds, or Haney by decision @3.00.

Or if you are going to Gamboa, lots of choices as all, ML or Gamboa by decision @45.00

I don't see the @45 in the screenshot, did you mean Gamboa winning by KO @45?

His odds was x13 to win the fight, that is good odds but it's really hard to risk your money on a fighter that has already past his prime, that's why the odds are so attractive.

Yeah, I'm sorry I forget to include the screenshot:

So now it's down to @40 by decision and @50 by knock out.

Yes, I know that risk is greater, but probably good to beat just 1 stake and hope that Gamboa can pull an upset.

^ Regardless of Gamboa's age, I think it will still not be an easy fight for Haney though he has an advantage in this fight because he is still young and much taller than Gamboa. If I will put a bet on this game I cannot be complacent to put my wager with Haney for I have witnessed how Gamboa proved himself and nailed in this sport. Nevertheless, based on Haney's performance in his previous fight, he has also shown exemplary skills in this field as well so IMO this fight will be a good fight for me.

That's what we think but the betting odds tells otherwise.

Gamboa once became a champion in his career, but that life, sometimes we need to accept that we have already past our prime and that goes to Gamboa.

Gamboa's record is really outstanding, 30 wins with 18 KOs but he got 3 loses against an undefeated fighter which is way younger than him.
The age difference really plays an important role in boxing and that's the reason why odds does not favor on Gamboa here.

Who's willing to take their chances with Gamboa here? That's +1150, pretty odds.

Thanks for that information, unfortunately I still can't find that betting odds in my sportsbook now, I'm just surprise with the odds TBH because I thought Gamboa here is still a dangerous fight who could beat his opponent, so not that too underdog for this fight.

Haney seems like a promising fighter but he is lagging behind the rest of the division. He is fighting the weakest competition right now and nobody takes him seriously as a world champion because he did not win his title in the ring. First he won an interim title and then he was elevated to regular champion, then he got injured and lost his title but then he was reinstated. We know that Teofimo Lopez is the real champion of this weight class and all these secondary titles are unnecessary. Hopefully they all fight each other and we get to see who is the best out of Lopez, Haney, Garcia or Davis.
This is just another step up on the competition, how can you say that he is fighting weakest competition when Davis fought Gamboa as well. He maybe one step behind, but for sure, just like what Davis this, after winning a fight against Gamboa, he level up, fighting Leo (but I don't know if you could consider it leveling up, as Leo is also a weak champion). Being said that, those young and talented players are just being set up by their managers to fight a cherry pick fighter, to look good. But we have to wait till everyone of them fight each other, boxing politics, and of course the money in the table could be a big factor.

Gamboa is a gatekeeper coming off a loss. It wouldn't be such a big deal if Haney already had some decent names on his record and took this as a stay busy fight, but his last fight, which was over a year ago, was already a stay busy fight. Davis might not have the greatest record but he has now fought Pedraza and Santa Cruz, who are both mult-weight champions.

I believe FinneysTrueVision is Teofimo Lopez fan because Lopez once claim Haney to be an email Champion due to the way he won his title. Honestly, if Haney want to indeed defend his title he ought to take on Lopez rather than Gamboa which was said to be a washed-out fighter but he seems prepared for this fight though cause he said "he COMEBACK is always Greater than the setback Going for the Green Belt ".
If Gamboa did win this Saturday then Haney is totally an email Champion.

Few days before the fight and the odds is already out in my favorite bookies but unfortunately not a tempting one if you are a Haney fan.

Though on the twilight of his career, Gamboa could still hold his ground against a young Haney and a high probability that this could go to the distance. Haney via unanimous decision is my bet here, hope they would put that market soon.

Yeah, not very tempting, but as go with what round Haney are going to win, although it might be very difficult to predict. I would say that Haney will go for a knock out here, he don't want to go the judges score card because he is looking for a statement win as well, just like what Davis did a week ago. And then he will call out Davis for sure.

Gamboa though is not very easy, Haney needs to be perfect in this fight, remember that Davis knock out Gamboa as well, but Haney should upstage Davis by knocking him out in the 5-10 rounds.

A knockout win by Haney is what the fans need to see but i doubt if that is also Davis' promoter wants to see  Smiley. He should call out Mayweather instead of Davis as the latter is calling the shots of the former's career. Hope the Pretty Boy won't ruin the career of Davis by feeding him picked opponents.

For sure the bookies will gonna add more odds for this fight soon.

^^ The is serious power in mitts, however this is just too early and maybe he is trying to get his condition back, I wonder though when he is doing his jogging, somewhat his poster is awkward???

Interesting division though 135 lbs there is a lot of names in their including Loma, so there is a possibility that the winner of this could face the winner of Loma vs Lopez? The problem I just see is that there are too much variations of those belts, currently Loma holds the franchise belt and then Haney as regular champion? Lol, it's really getting confusing.

Gamboa has nothing to lose here, he already had a success in boxing when he was still young, the big risk here is on the young fighter, he should not underestimate an experience boxer who has experience to be a champion in his journey as a boxer. TBH, the odds of Gamboa is really attractive.

Gamboa is lucky to be fighting again after losing to Davis that could mean that promoters still trust him and boxers still has huge respect to his boxing skills and he is still a threat, we may have an upset here and if this happen, this is going to be candidate for the upset of the year, so Haney should be very careful here, Gamboa is still dangerous.

Or the promoter is low balling him as they know that Gamboa will not refused that paycheck because he is already a shot fighter and the promoters are putting him against a young prospect, so he is still good, not totally damage but in the decline already. So winning against a Gamboa is good on someone's resume like Haney who is climbing the ranks. Gamboa's chin is no longer there, he could fight  to the distance but he doesn't have that gas to really go to 12 rounds without losing power.

And Gamboa is really has a lot of catching up to do with his career, he was with Top Rank early on with his career, but the relationship turns ugly,  Bob Arum filed a lawsuit against Gamboa, and for years Gamboa's career was in limbo. When the lawsuit was settled, and he come back fighting, it was a different Gamboa then, so he lost a lot of potentail fights during that lawsuit.

The kid is already grinding very hard for this match. He did some sparring and he says that his shoulder feels goes after coming from an injury.

Quote
"Today was the first day of hard sparring,” said Devin Haney after finishing sparring for the day. “I am glad to be back in the ring after my shoulder injury, and I am glad to be doing what I love, competing at the highest level of the sport of boxing. Injuries are a part of the sport, but it still doesn't make working through them any less difficult. I feel better now than before my injury."

The talented young boxer Devin Haney said it was not easy to beat Yuriorkis Gamboa, but if he manage to beat the 2004 Olympic
gold medalist. Haney's name will skyrocketed even more, therefore Haney will try to fight with his best ability to defeat Gamboa.
And in the last fight against Gervonta Davis, Gamboa only lost on points, this proves Gamboa has strong power. Therefore Davis
ensures he will not underestimate this fight, because the end goal is not Gamboa. Rather they want to face Gervonta Davis, Lomachenko
or Teofimo Lopez. I predict with young Haney, ambitious and has a high posture. Will be able to beat Gamboa, I bet on Devin Haney's victory.

I believe his fight with Haney is a wayfor him to re-write his history.

Everything will change for Gamboa if he beat Haney, we can say the same thing with Haney, they both want this fight it's the end of the road oft Gamboa and a big start for Haney but if Haney losses here he will have no chance to fight Garcia for a bigger paycheck, he really wants Garcia's head and this fight could make it happen.
This fight being the chance for Gamboa was the reason why I believe he still the chance to beat Haney cause he ought to get back in the ring next year and for him to want the fight this year mean Gamboa is up to something. However, Haney thirsty for Garcia as an opponent doesn't justify him being the winner of his fight with Gamboa.
Exactly my view on this Battle between the two great future champions, Haney just like other young fighters are hungry for fight because of they exclusive training and hunger for winning any ways I wish him all the best after all there is always a first time of trying some thing way  bigger than you that is what champions are known for.

checking popular sportsbooks, they havent listed this match yet. but joshua vs. pulev happening on nov 8 are already in major bookies.
seems that we are going to see the odds by late october here. both camps for sure is training hard so as not to lose their upcoming opportunities in their respective careers.

When you are in the ring then dont consider the fight as good as done until you knocked out your opponent.I dont know why other people do talk about Gamboa's career is done yet if we do look on it , he's still capable and been also respected by lots. When it comes to experience then there no doubt that Gamboa do have it but it doesnt mean that he should take Haney too lightly.I agree on the fact that Gamboa has nothing to lose
here but this fight would be important to prove out that he's still worth and still have the fire. For Haney then this wont really be an easy match and he know on whats being staked on here.

[Many believe that this fight is a joke as Gamboa's career in boxing is done and this would be an easy fight for Haney but on the other hand, this fight could serve as another fight for Haney to be busy while the other big names in this category is busy preparing for their respective fights.

Haney have a good chance with age to win the fight but saying Yuriorkis Gamboa career in boxing is done is an over statement because he's actually not older than Mayweather Jr and Pacman what could make his career end so soon. Besides, the last time I checked the Cuban cant be underestimated when it come to boxing and for his to choose Haney as opponent he definitely want to prove something to the world.

I agree that saying Gamboa's career is done is an overstatement but as we look at his record on the tail end of his career we could say that he is on a decline. He was once a feared champion and there are even talks of him taking on Manny Pacquiao but unfortunately it did not happen. Though he performed well on his last fight against Davis, i think, him being a champion is far from reality against a young champion in Haney.
Terrence Crawford was the reason why he couldnt fight with Manny Pacquiao then but his boxing career was affected ever since he was arrested and charged for two misdemeanor battery charges of domestic violence with his ex and when he was accused of biogenesis performance enhancing drug.
I believe his fight with Haney is a wayfor him to re-write his history.

This is a very good fight to see. I always get amazed of watching good boxers in the ring just like the boxer I do remember that has a high knock out record and also a good boxer in the ring with championship belt and I think too that he included in a hall of fame of boxers Prince Naseem Hamed. A boxer that would like to dance always in the ring and has the record of total fight - 37, Wins - 36 Wins by KO - 31, Losses - 1. A good boxer actually and has the passion in it and I think he only got the loss when he fight Marco Antonio Barrera.

In this match my bet will be to Haney. He has a good boxing record and higher rate of wins by knock out compared to Gamboa. The advantage of Gamboa here is his experience in boxing but it will not going to matter here because Haney is only 10 matches behind with Gamboa and Gamboa has a loss record of 3 which means that he has not been doing well in his boxing career compare to Haney.

Both are hungry fighters, Gamboa is an old warrior that wants to get back into the limelight and he has the experiences and still has the power and Haney is a young hungry fighter who wants attention so he can get into a big title fight, both fighters badly need this fight, if Gambao losses it's the end of the line for him, if Haney losses he losses his chance to fight Garcia for a big payday.

So in this fight, it is like both sides are having their make or break again in their boxing career.
We will expect a very good toe-to-toe fight inside the ring if they will take seriously what is at stake here.
I like watching aggressive fighters not the likes of Mayweather, calculating every move.
I would say it's more on Gamboa, Haney is still young, even if he losses he can bounce back. As for Gamboa, it will really be at the crossroads of his career, he is old and mostly if he loss he can't get a good fight in the future. He used to be known as one of the fastest hands and very aggressive boxer, so we will see if he still has it or just shot fighter already and yeah, probably the end of the line for him. No more high paying fights.

This would be a great fight for both great fighters, both boxers have good records, I am now so excited about what Gamboa will show in the boxing ring, it seems like his last fight if he loses to Haney, Haney is still young but he already proved that he can fight with the well-experienced boxer. He also has the advantage of the age but it still doesn't matter, as Manny Pacquiao wins against younger opponents.

Quote
“Yuriokis Gamboa is a dangerous and experienced fighter,” Haney said. “He’s a former unified world champion, and he has been in the ring with some of the best. He hurt Terence Crawford with a big shot, so his power is not to be ignored.
Haney shos respect to his opponent by saying his words, it seems like he really know how great Gamboa is.

Haney said that he is not taking this fight lightly because of what Gamboa achieved in the past. And I think, every boxer should have that kind of mindset as they don't know the cards of their opponent up until they are already inside the ring. Let us see what odds from sportsbooks will give on this fight...

https://boxingjunkie.usatoday.com/2020/10/haney-vs-gamboa-jacobs-vs-rosado-set-for-november

He should, Gamboa is still dangerous he can still deliver a big upset here because he still has power, but age and his past injury could haunt him in this fight, I like Haney to win this fight so we can have the Garcia Haney fight in the future for Gamboa, at 38 this could be his last big fight, he is lucky yo have a lot of opportunities for a title.

I never thought he is this old now, I still remember when he was at his prime before those loses and injuries. Damn! this dude was unstoppable and he mostly knockout his opponent in a most satisfying knockout you can see. I thought he will gonna climb up to the top beating every challenger and champions along the way that time but as most boxers career, he too ended up losing and didn't come back again. Now he is fighting again with a new face and strategy, I wanted to see this fight and cheer for him as I was when he fought those competitive boxers in his prime.

You can still see his highlights in Youtube, he has some unique style of boxing.

Haney is young and more talented and hungrier, and others say that Gamboa is done and old and it's time for this young and upcoming boxers, so we might see Gamboa losing again against Haney here. I don't see him being a live underdog.

This is Gamboa's last chance if he still has left in his arsenal then he should show him now, I still consider Gamboa a fighter who can pull out an upset he says that he has an injury in his last fights. let's see if he has recovered and we can see a new Gamboa here, I have Haney as the favorite to win this match.

Yuriorkis Gamboa has an advantage compare to experience as he has 33 fights with 30 wins, 18 of it are KO's and the 3 are defeat while
Devin Haney has 24 fights only with 15 KO's with 0 lost.

Gamboa was coming from a lost to Tank Davis, and he didn't show any at that fight.

But Haney is holding a World Title while Gamboa didn't have even if he has more fights compare to Haney. I haven't seen their styles yet as I am not that fan
with these two fighters but it will be a good fight for sure as I am sure that Gamboa will try his best to win this match in order to move forward in his boxing career.

Haney is young and more talented and hungrier, and others say that Gamboa is done and old and it's time for this young and upcoming boxers, so we might see Gamboa losing again against Haney here. I don't see him being a live underdog.

Nice, I wanted to see Haney going against Gamboa, it will be a big test for him. Russell Jr and Haney has been going on a verbal war, and I thought that the two will collide this year. Nevertheless, against Gamboa, we will see how Haney is made off. I agree that Gamboa is done already, but in the first couple of rounds, we will see him giving Haney a problem. But as the fight progresses, Gamboa is notoriously known for gassing out in the later rounds. So I would say that Haney could win in a KO/TKO here. And then set up a fight with either Russell Jr or Garcia.

Haney for the win here, he might KO Gamboa here. Gamboa is already way past his prime, and he is just being used by a lot of incoming fighters are a stepping stone. This is another get busy fight for Haney, as he is looking for a Ryan Garcia clash in the future. There's no more pop on Gamboa, he is no longer have that fast hands. This will be an easy fight for Haney.

Let's see, I'm waiting for the odds, if I get an odds like +500 for Gamboa, I would certainly take it, I'm doing it blindly, I'll trust his little chance of winning in this fight, he has been in many battles in the past, this should not be new to him.

As we can see, Devin Haney is the younger fighter, undefeated and a taller fight, so even though the odds are not yet available for this fight, I'm expecting that Haney here will be listed as the favorites, however, you guys are correct, Gamboa should not be underestimated as he was an exciting fighter, he love to fight toe to toe and and has big experience in boxing.

Haney said that he is not taking this fight lightly because of what Gamboa achieved in the past. And I think, every boxer should have that kind of mindset as they don't know the cards of their opponent up until they are already inside the ring.

Many believe that this fight is a joke as Gamboa's career in boxing is done and this would be an easy fight for Haney but on the other hand, this fight could serve as another fight for Haney to be busy while the other big names in this category is busy preparing for their respective fights.

Thought on this upcoming fight guys.
