And with this win, Jaime Munguia said that he wants to fight next in his native Mexico,

According to a report from Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN, Munguia has set his sights on former super middleweight title challenger Ronald Gavril of Romania. The potential fight is being speculated to unfold on 14th December at Munguia’s home turf in Tijuana’s Caliente Stadium.

Gavril is a tough cookie to crack, he fought David Benavidez twice already. In the first fight, it was close, it was a UD win for Benavidez. And then they have their rematch and Benavidez won by MD. But that was last 7 years ago so maybe Gavril has age already. But still a good fight for Munguia for the experience and to show his fans once again as he last fought in Mexico was 2 years ago.

No, Gavril has show signs of aging as well, and that's why Top Rank is going to pick him up as the next opponent of Munguia. And since fight is going to be in Tijuana, they wanted to make Jaime great again and I wouldn't be surprised if he is going to knockout Gavril here.

It's good that they will put it like a story line that he gave David Benavidez a good fight back then, but it was a different version of Benavidez that time and he is not that serious in his career as after that he was caught with drugs in his system, if I'm not mistaken.

^^ Checking his boxrec, Yes, Gavril is already 38 years old, https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/591042. Although his 3 losses come from the hands of David Benavidez twice. He has a good knockout ratio at 80%, so in paper he looks good to be a opponent for Munguia.

But he is not working under Top Rank and so Arum has history of building his fighters first and not putting them against great fighters that might give them a bad beating. So this is another tune up fight for him and they might be preparing him for a Berlanga fight in the future.

Bazinyan had some good moments and won some rounds but he did not have much power and was eventually stopped by Munguia. Munguia delivered relentless pressure and a constant body attack. He still has very poor defense but against physically weak fighters like Bazinyan, his style works perfectly. If Benavidez was still in this division, Mungia would not do so well, but that is not a problem he has to worry about anymore. He can fight Caleb Plant or William Scull to become a paper champion. Plant’s more technical style might give him some problems though.

I like how Munguia is in this fight, he shows resilient, he was hit at times but I guess his chin is tough against the power of Bazinyan. His body attack is relentless although in round 1 he might have caught Erik with a low blow.

Nevertheless, it's good to see him comeback from his lose to Canelo. I will love to see him against big mouth Caleb Plant. Plant seems to struggle fighting bigger guys, but still this is going to be another great test if Munguia will be the upcoming fighter at super middle weight division.
The fight’s done, and Jaime Munguia is back in control, now holding two belts. As expected, he won, since the betting lines clearly had him as the heavy favorite. But the big question is, will there be a rematch with Canelo? Would Jaime Munguia even agree to it, considering he seems to be outmatched by Canelo?

BTW, for the highlights of the fight, you can watch this from Top Rank Boxing.

Jaime Munguia is back on track fighting unknown fighters after a defeat from Canelo. This is a tune-up for him, he could have targeted the IBF Super Middleweight title so many fighters were willing to grab this shot and he is a good contender in the division but maybe there is money to fight on Erik Bazinyan.

Bazinyan isn’t the most well known fighter but he has built a good record fighting against gatekeepers. I don’t expect him to upset Munguia but he has good enough offense to make it an entertaining fight because as we all know Munguia always eats a lot of punches.

And this is a tailor fight for Munguia the way I see it, yean Bazinyan might have a good record, but then again, if you look at the level of the opposition, nothing has stand out. While Munguia is really facing good fighters and then he had lost to Canelo Alvarez but nothing to be ashamed of his performance there. It's that Canelo is still too good for this young fighters like him and Berlanga.

Munguia by KO is not that attractive at 1.34.

But a decision win is very appealing at 3.6 and the over and under 8.5 rounds is 1.83/1.95. So just take your pick on that odds.

What are your expectations for this fight? Who’s your bet, and why?

This is Jaime Munguia's fight, he needs to win this one to be back on the groove after that loss to Canelo Alvarez.

There are limited odds for this fight and i'm going to bet that this fight will go over 8.5 @1.80.

Good luck to us and by the way this fight will be stream on FB for free by Top Rank.

I think he will definitely be back on track if he wins here, as we can see in the odds, he is a huge favorite and it might translate to a knockout win for him. Although I do agree that a over 8.5 might be a good and safe bet at 1.80, but let's see what will be odds for him to get a knockout.

Erick could offer some resistance early though, he knows that he is a good position to maybe pull an upset because he knows that Munguia is coming off from a big loss to Canelo Alvarez. Nevertheless, with that experience he got from that fight, Munguia could be very sharp in this fight that's why I think that a knockout win might present itself here.

William Scull is already scheduled to fight for the vacant IBF super middleweight title against Vladimir Shishkin. I think there are better fighters for Munguia to face in the division. Caleb Plant, Edgar Berlanga, and Christian Mbilli would all be really good opponents.

Bazinyan isn’t the most well known fighter but he has built a good record fighting against gatekeepers. I don’t expect him to upset Munguia but he has good enough offense to make it an entertaining fight because as we all know Munguia always eats a lot of punches.

Interesting fight, but according to the betting odds now, it's unlikely that Munguia will loss.

So I agree with what people are saying, this could be a cherry pick fight by Munguia, just like a tune up fight.
He came from a loss against Canelo, so most likely he'll bounce back to reclaim his name, but I believe this isn't a championship fight, so Munguia even if he wins still could come not come back being a champion.

This is quite an interesting fight considering that Jaime Munguia can return to fight after previously being defeated by Canelo and became his first defeat, on the other hand Erik Bazinyan is an undefeated boxer and he is also occupy 2 WBO ranking of and WBA 3.
I think this will be fierce fight, but I doubt it will end quickly because both have their own advantages and my prediction will end in decision.
But Jaime Munguia will be my favorite, he has always fought well before even though he suffered defeat but it was natural defeat because his opponent is Canelo who is the best boxer right now.
I sure that Jaime Munguia will be able to fight very well and even win this fight, he also has more experience and all of that will be the reason for Jaime Munguia to be able to end the fight as expected.

This one is going to be juicy as Jaime Munguia pits his wits against Erik Bazinyan. That's a proven list of accomplishments and experience for the young former champion, Jaime Munguia. In search of redemption following the defeat he suffered at the hands of Canelo Alvarez - that was a nightmare loss, by all accounts. But in adversity lies strength and a possibility of coming back an even better fighter.

Basinyan has been an undefeated fighter with a great knockout percentage. That is why it should be such a strong opponent. All of his career shows that he is an absolute competitor and wants to win championships.

Even though it is not the name of the contest. But this fight is of huge interest for both of the fighters. Mungia aims to grab back his rank from the elite. Basinyan aims to prove that he is exactly at that level. This was a fighting of a professional martial artist with a young star on the raise. That always is an interesting combination!

If Canelo was to destroy the career of Munguia, he would have KO'd Munguia in a baddest manner but Canelo I guess is just not that brutal. The young fighters will have more to learn and it's better to KO them in a way not to break their spirit.  Canelo did the same to Berlanga.

What are your expectations for this fight? Who’s your bet, and why?

Emiliano Vargas and Larry Fryers are quite an interesting pair to watch!

Emiliano Vargas is the son of former champion Fernando Vargas who makes his way into the boxing world. With her youth and talent she wants to be distinguished from peers in work.

Larry Fryers brings with him a bold fighting style and experience in the ring. He's especially known for his patience and tenacity, making him quite a tough opponent.

This will be very important for both of the boxers to fight. Vargas must want to show the great skills of his to the world and keep the momentum rolling. The Flyers, on the other hand, are going to upset the young hero to prove their worth in the division. It is the classic match between youth and experience. And it happens so often that action scenes filled with joy ensue!
